Valencia Stars: 41-35 (.539) # 4

Post by leejay56 » Sat Apr 20, 2019 8:29 pm

The Stars started out the season very Hot going 17-10 in April. Since then there still hanging in 6 games over .500 but are 24-25 in May and part of June. The offensive side for the Stars have been carry this team as the Stars are in the top 1 or 2 in most categories. As good as the hitting is doing the Stars pitching is the opposite. The Starters ERA is 4.70 which is 10th overall and the pen isn't any better with a 4.82 ERA and overall is 13th... So if the pitching ever picks up the Stars can be a much better team.

Last week 1B Mike Elliscame back from a short stint on the DL and looked great. Ellis showed some rare power with 3 homers to give him 8 on the year. Ellis a free agent pick up is having a great start with the Stars hitting .326 25 doubles, 4 triples, 8 homers and 28 RBI'S for the new Stars lead off man. Ellis has an .345 OBP and has already scored 54 times which projects him to score 115 times this year and with 101 hits he should get over 200 hits.

SS Ángel Zalapa contiued his hot hitting. Last week Zalapa had 7 hits in 20 AB for a .350 batting average, another homerun and RBI. The 22 year old SS this season is hitting .302 22 homers and 59 RBI'S.. Zalapa is on the pace to hit 47 homers this season. Zalapa still has room to grow and that's scary that he can even get better...

CF Ramón Pagán who at 21 is the youngest starter for the Stars looked good last week with a .265 week but hit 2 homeruns with 3 RBI'S...Last season Pagán hit .273 23 72 and this season with a .244 batting average but already has 21 homers. Pagán could hit over 40 homers this season and if he can get his average up he will be a vary dangerous hitter this season and beyond...

Quite a lineup you've got there. Making the Pacific even tougher this year and I love it.

Lee- I sincerely hope you take advantage of this window and go get some pitching at the deadline. Valencia needs to be aggressive now!!!
