Valencia Stars:69-93 (.426) # 6

The Stars season is over and head into the off season. Only 66 wins this last season but the team is very talented and very young. The offensive part of the Stars saw some terrific power numbers with 4 players hitting 30 or more homers on the team and a total of 231. Hopefully the Stars will make more contact to get on base more so more runs score next season.

The big question will be the pitching. The Stars pitching allowed 930 runs and a team ERA of 5.32. The 5.32 ERA is the worst team ERA is Valencia history. Just like the offensive side and pitching is very young. The starting 4 is set next year and during the off season and ST the Stars will look for a # 5 and one spot starter. The starting 4 are young and not many innings experience with any of them.

# 1 Starter is Niall Hanlon is 24 years old and has started 19 games in his career. Hanlon last season was his first full season and did pick up 7 wins in 18 starts but his high ERA 6.83 needs to really get better for the Stars to win more games. Hanlon did get 107 K's in 109 innings and has terrific stuff with a 99-101 fastball.

# 2 Starter Grellan Profit a 23 year old righty who like Hanlon throws gas as he tops out at 101 on his fastball. Profit last season was his first full season with 26 starts. In a few games in the last month he showed flashes of how good he could be. In those two games combined he pitched 18 innings 2 hits 2 ER 13 Ks and both were complete games wins.

# 3 Starter Gerald Keynes is only 22 and in his second full season with the Stars. Keynes showed improvement last season as his ERA went from 6.77 to 4.87 last season and he picked up 11 wins. Keynes like the first two throws heat with 99-101 fastball. Hopefully next season he will get better.

# 4 Starter is another young 21 year old Luis Salinas who throws heat 99-101 fastball and only has 29 starts in his career. He did go 9-6 5.14 ERA. Salinas did get 115 K's in 140 innings last year.

With the starting 4 all very young and each of them hasnt really started many games the Stars hope this season was a great learning experiance and all show improvement next season.
