This year we have seen rookie LF Wilton Rivera and he looks ok for his first year. Rivera is only 21 and is having a solid rookie season hitting .257 41 doubles 16 homers 70 RBI'S. Rivera has a 1.3 WAR and is second in homeruns and RBI'S and should improve next season. The Stars would like a .290 25 90 stat line from him next season.
The Stars brought up INF Kiichi Suzuki. Suzuki is only 20 and seems to be holding his own. Suzuki is hitting .240 6 13 in 49 games so far. In AA ball he hit .293 34 128 in two seasons and played very little in AAA ball as the Stars wanted to see what he can do this season. He is still young and has some time to develop into a solid offense and defensive player.
The Stars number one prospect is Ángel Zalapa. Zalapa is tearing it up in AAA this season hitting .334 57 homeruns and 137 RBI'S. The Stars wanted him to develop his defense this season and he really has improved. Zalapa could be one of those players that comes around once in awhile and could lead in many categories before he is done. Adding Zalapa
with Mahaffey and Rivera gives the Stars a good soild bats in the lineup.
The Stars should bring up 3B Curt Love as he also can be a soild bat in the lineup. Love another lefthanded bat has some good power as you can see in AAA he has 28 doubles and 24 homers this season. One issue is Love and Suzuki will battle for the starting 3B postion vs RHP as both cant handle leftys well. So after spring will know who will start.
There are a few more players coming up. The bad area is going to be pitching. But the Stars will be fun to watch again and should start winning more games.
