Valencia Stars: 5-6 (.455) # 3

Post by leejay56 » Tue Jun 19, 2018 12:33 am

The Valencia had two different results in the first two weeks of play. Week one saw the Stars go 4-2, then week two the total reverse as the Stars lost 4 in a roll and finally won the last game of the series. Hopefully the team the placed in the first week will show up again.

Leftfielder Frank Mahaffey had a game he will surely remember. Frank Mahaffey hit a two-run home run off Ricardo Ortíz in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Ricardo Ortíz in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Habib Mahsud Khel in the 6th, walked in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
Mahaffey went 3-3 5 Rbi's 3 homers on the night. Last year as a rookie Mahaffey hit .267 and smashed 32 homers. Mahaffey only 23 has a long career ahead of him.

LF/DH Rookie Wilton Rivera everyone is watching to see if he is ready for the show. So far is the first two weeks he looks very good as he is hitting .310 and has driven in 12 runs. Rivera 12 Rbi's lead the team and his .310 batting average in 3rd best. Nice start for the 21 year old kid. Rivera still has alot of room to grow and could be a force in LF/DH for the Stars for a long time...

I see it's now time to potentially start being mad I traded Rivera. Didn't remember who else I traded with him so I looked. While Soto was solid for me, the trade is looking good for you, Lee. Pengilly is meh and could be an okay bench bat, but Sandoval looks like a solid SP.

And yes, as Ron said, it definitely is an exciting time to be a Valencia fan.
