Valencia Stars Report: OFF-SEASON # 1

The Stars during the off season were quiet as they picked up a few pieces to help them out this season....

The Stars first picked up Catcher Juan Rodríguez as a backup catcher...Rodríguez who was with GREENVILLE as a backup catcher since 2004 joined the Stars for two year deal for 2.6 million.. Rodríguez has shown he can play good D, has thrown out 33 percent of the runners....Rodríguez will start vs leftys and also give vet catcher Jarrett Ellis a rest...Hopefully next season rookie catcher Jason Dunn will be ready to play on Valencia next season.....

The Stars also picked up OF Shawn Hamilton.
Hamilton who has always been a backup will get his share at starting with the Stars...In his career Hamilton has racked up 298 hits with a .291 average and .364 on-base percentage. His numbers include 65 doubles, 10 triples, and 27 home runs, along with 135 runs scored and 137 RBIs.
