Galaxy Gas 2065.04 - Spring Training Second Thoughts

In typical Valencia fashion, the Stars brought the full allotment of players into Spring Training.

Out of the 70 players on the Spring Training roster, there are five players with a primary position of second base if you do not count Juan Silva since the rumor mill has him being moved to third base.

Bartolo Fernández – 22 years old
OVR – 60 POT – 70 CON – 11/11 BABIP – 9/10 POW – 2/3 EYE – 4/5
The second overall pick of last year’s draft made quick work of the farm system and has the inside track to hold down the second base position on opening day. The front office is putting a lot of eggs in Bartolo’s basket – there are definitely worse baskets to have your eggs in at this point. Bartolo hit .381/.438 in AAA over 118 at bats. The front office is hoping that he can get a defensive bump in dev lab before the season opens and that he can be a terror on the basepaths along with Juan Silva and Santiago Diéguez.

Shu-de Sa – 24 years old
OVR – 45 POT – 45 CON – 6/6 BABIP – 6/6 POW – 5/6 EYE – 5/5
Shu-de has been the starting second baseman over the last two season but will be giving way to Fernandez this season. Shu-de hit .272/.325 last season. His home run production went from 20 in 2063 down to 8 in 2064. She-de has the ability to play each of the four infield spots although first base is probably best suited for his glove. She-de should still be on the team on opening day, but his at bats will be divided in half over the previous two seasons.

Javier Radosavijevic – 24 years old
OVR – 40 POT – 40 CON – 6/6 BABIP – 5/6 POW – 5/5 EYE – 5/5
Javier has run of the mill ratings across the board but has been putting up good numbers at each of his minor league stops. Javier hit .321/.365 in 162 at bats with 5 homers. Javier’s glove is a little better than average but it is doubtful that he will be in Valencia on opening day. Javier should be a solid second baseman in AAA.

Edgard Gómez – 26 years old
OVR – 40 POT – 40 CON – 5/6 BABIP – 5/5 POW – 4/4 EYE – 4/4
Spending his second full season in AAA, Edgard hit .271/.313 in 328 at bats. Edgard has an above average glove but it is doubtful that he will see time with the club in Valencia. Edgard will probably stay in AAA for yet another season.

Tarik bin Fariq – 23 years old
OVR – 40 POT – 55 CON – 5/5 BABIP – 5/5 POW – 6/7 EYE – 7/7
Tarik was promoted to the A-level squad last season and responded with hitting .319/.405 in his 69 at bats. Tarik’s lack of arm strength limits him to the right side of the infield. Once the spring training dust settles, look for Tarik to be with the AA club at best.
