The Valencia front office has just announced that the third pitcher has been promoted from the AA Jamestown squad to the AAA Mars ball club in as many weeks as it promoted reliever Raul Fierro.
The 20 year-old who was drafted in the 12th round of the 2061 draft started the 2063 season in AA but after going 3-6 with 12 saves while sharing closer duties was enough to give him the nod for the promotion. Raul Has a 2.77 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP so far this season. In Raul's last 5 appearances he has acquired a win and three saves. Raul has not allowed a run while pitching those last five innings while allowing no runs on one hit. Raul has also fanned six batters while walking none during that span.
From a development perspective, Raul has improved to an overall rating of 40 with a potential of 60.
The previous two pitchers promoted to AAA have had some initial success. Juan Evans has appeared in 9 games thus far pitching a total of 10 innings without allowing an earned run allowing 8 hits and 5 walks will striking out 18. Juan's has a 1-0 record with 6 saves in 6 opportunities.
Starting pitcher Lawrence Ross' AAA debut resulted in a win as he pitched 6 innings allowing 2 runs. Lawrence allowed 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4. In Lawrence's second AAA start, he went 4.1 innings before he left the game with a strained forearm. Lawrence is expected to be back to form in two weeks.
The Mars Martians are currently leading the AAA West Coast Division with a record of 68-54.
