Galaxy Gas 2062.63 - Trade Throw-ins vs Free Agency
In the flurry of trades made as part of Firesale 2.0, four players were included as throw-ins to help make the money work for the other teams. How many of these players will stick around in 2063, let's take a look.
RP Qing-lai Ou-yang OVR - 50 POT 50 STUFF 6/6 MOV 6/6 CON- 5/5
The 30 year old reliever was acquired as part of the Charlotte deal to help the finances work out. Qing-Lai is on a $1.35M salary this season with an arbitration estimate of $2.4M in 2063. That works out to needed about 1.0 worth of WAR over next season compared to projected 2062 WAR of 0.9. While his ERA in Charlotte was 5.62 it has dwindled down to 2.87 in his 9 games/15 innings with Valencia. There is also a rumor of moving him to the starting rotation in 2063 to where the $2.4M price tag could be quite advantageous. The WHIP both pre and post Valencia of 1.4+ in rather concerning though.
LF Raul Morales OVR - 50 POT - 50 CON 5/5 POW 5/6 EYE 5/5
Also included in the Charlotte trade for financial reasons, Raul has been given a September trial in lieu of AAA outfielder Ed Bush. His $1M salary this year and estimated $1.6M next year compared to Ed Bush's rookie minimum salary could very well be the reason that Raul could be on the trading block this season. Raul has hit .312 with 2 doubles in 16 at bats so far this month so he is trying to make a case for himself.
1B Cisco Cintron OVR - 45 POT - 45 CON 5/5 POW 6/6 EYE 6/6
The slick fielding 25 year-old first baseman came over as part of a trade with Montreal. He has hit .250 overall this season and has a 0.3 WAR compared to his $750K salary. This may make him intriguing enough to keep in AAA if he does not find himself as part of an off-season trade.
RP Jameel Khanum OVR - 45 POT 45 STUFF 7/7 MOV 5/5 CON- 5/5
The third player in this list acquired from Charlotte, the 30 year-old groundball pitcher has not had much success in Valencia over his first 7 games. Jameel's estimated 2063 salary of $1.4M versus his WAR of effectively 0 does not bode well unless the Stars try to also move him into the rotation if the front office timeline remains 2064 or 2065.

Given the small salaries it feels like the question is whether you think they're more valuable than a AAA replacement or spring training minor league deal person.

Qing-lai is really the only one I am considering.
