Valencia Stars Announcements, Chatter & Blog.

Post by Clayman » Wed Feb 10, 2021 5:21 pm

I like to try different things, see what people like to read, don't like to read. I was going to keep it to announcements or just chatter but I want to crank up them posts to get pp ;) I also wanted to do a blog of forum, knowing me a few weeks into the season I'd end up forgetting about it so in the end thought this was the best way to go. Plus sometimes I just want to say a line or two and don't want to write an article, also I can have guest posters like players, coaches maybe even fans posting stuff.

Development Reports

Post by Clayman » Thu Feb 11, 2021 1:38 pm

Over the last month of the 2045 season I was taking more notice of the development of players, not only the development of a player but what level of the minors he was at and more importantly who his coaches were and also did the development of players around him equal his development. I may even look into moving players up or down, putting them with a specific coach who may develop them better even if it means dropping them down a level for a short time.

Anyway I swapped managers and coaches around a bit during last season and didn't take many notes, however I did see some interesting trends. So this season I'm taking a deeper look at the development of players, mostly in my minors but also within the major league team. Rather than just Player A improves at Control I'll write it up as a report/article type thing, more interesting to me hopefully more interesting to you.

How many times I update each teams reports obviously depends on how many players develop and the rate they develop, hopefully there'll be enough development to update at least one team every week or so, I'll just have to see how it goes.

Wow! Des Moines and Louisville get a higher draw than YS9 - the defending Frick Champs.

I worked those out on last season's attendance, hopefully we'll be sold out with season tickets. No idea how OOTP works it out, Long Beach should be our biggest crowd along with San Fernando, nearest teams to us, division rivals and Long Beach were Landis finalists in 44. Were as Des Moines down at the bottom of the Heartland, just under 1,700 miles away and one of our biggest draws. I know it could be days played on, more on the weekend, less during the week. However we played nearly every team, if not every team either on a Saturday or Sunday. So no idea how attendance figures are worked out but that's how I've worked out the ticket prices. Obviously these will change though as I may play say Louisville and Madison in one sim, so I'll have to decide Cat A ticket or Cat C ticket or an in between one, may depend how many season tickets are sold.

Its still a mystery how this works. I mean chi sets it at $19 all year and still on of the tops in attendance and season tick sales. Where as you and i play with the #s during the season to try to get desired results.

I'm hopeful I'll have a better grasp of it during the season, in previous leagues I've kind of free wheeled it and got good results. I've noticed with the BBA you have to squeeze every drop out of it, I knew when I left the Brewster that one day I'd return so I spent it reading not only the OOTP forums but various league forums for any tips hopefully it pays of.

Decided to go a different way with the development report, writing reports on every development be it up or down was to time consuming. So I've decided to write reports on major league players and those who are 50 or above potential through the Stars system, I'll also throw in the odd prospect who goes on a development roid rage.

One thing I've noticed with doing the development reports is how many times a player loses a point in a rating then regains it the week later or vice versa, now all I can go of is football (soccer) which I played to a pretty high amateur level and cricket.

With cricket being the closest to baseball I'll use that, now unless I'm injured I actually still play I never lose power then regain that power. Now over the long term I may lose power due to age and maybe gain contact due to losing power my game will change but my skills (rating) never goes up and down in the short term. However it does in OOTP.
