Valencia Stars: 53-31 (.631) # 5

Post by leejay56 » Sat Nov 02, 2019 8:55 pm

The Stars are hanging on to first place from a surging HAWAII TROPICS 4.5 GB and SAN FERNANDO BEARS 5 GB...Its a long season and anything can happen...In June the Stars had there best month with a 19-8 record and has held on to first place since then...
This season the Stars weakest area has been the pen... What used to be an area that had a lot of good depth this season has been with full of injuries...
Future closer Grant Wright had a minor injury but decided to retire before the season started...MR pitcher Mario Reynoso went out with Shoulder inflammation, will end up missing the whole year, and now last week Luis Salinas who in his last 3 times pitching he pitched 6 innings allowed 4 runs went down with Injured (Partially torn UCL] and wont be back for a year if he fully recovers.
The Stars will bring up Luis Gonzáles. The 23 year old really hasnt progressed like the Stars though he would be at in his career...In two seasons in AAA ball he has an 2.95 ERA and 18 saves...In his minor league career he does have 83 saves... Gonzáles now will have his shot for the Stars...

A move to help strengthen to pen was a trade the Stars just made with EDMONTON JACKRABBITS, as they sent 3 minor leaguers for 28 year old José Torres. Torres will give the Stars more depth as the Stars try to keep in first place. Torres has a career ERA 4.90 and in 464 inning he has 456 K... In the Stars part he could do better...

DH/OF Ramón Pagán is off to such a great start..
Pagán has now 34 homers in 79 games and with his 76 Rbis leads the team in both catgories. Pagán 34 homers puts him number 4 in all BBA with the other 3 have 35 homers only 1 more than Pagán. Pagán also is 4th in RBI'S with 76 only behind the leader with 82...So Pagán has really helped the Stars while there were many injuries in the beginning of the season....Its possible if Pagán keeps up this pace he could hit 60 homers this season...Last season Pagán hit 48 with 121 Rbi's… He is hitting like a vet but Pagán is only 23 this season...Big future for Pagán ahead of him...

I liked the Torres trade for you, but I, of course, disliked it for the rest of the division.

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.
