After a whirlwind of last-second trades settled, two ex-Storm rewarded 50,077
Hawaii hopefuls who jammed Tropics Stadium Tuesday evening to see Hawaii
defeat Vancouver 6-2 and pull to within one game of the Mounties.

SS Yamaguchi Kanzaburo, flying in from Seattle along with new center fielder
Jeff Stanley, last year's FL ROY, reached base three times, stole two bases,
scored twice, and knocked in an insurance run in 7th in his first game in a Tropic
uniform.

"I tell y'all what," GM Al Hoot said, "He's a play-maker. Hopefully he'll be a king-maker."

But he needs a nickname, added team spokesperson Stitch Lilo. Other than
"the man who's name cannot be spelled," as new Seattle GM Gavin Giles put it.

Yama-kan opened the Hawaii 1st with a walk, advanced to second on a ground
out by Lord Stanley—who had two hits in the contest—stole third and scored in one
gallop when Mounties catcher threw the ball into kingdom come.

In the 3rd Yama-kan got a two-out hit, stole second, and scored on Stanley's
double. In the 7th Yamaguchi got another two-out single, scoring Hank Felicitti
from second to increase Hawaii's lead to 4-2. Stanley followed with a single to
load the bases and Liao Kuan knocked in pitcher Carter with a fielder's choice.

Carter struck out 8 in 7.6 innings and nudged his record to 8-7. Luiz Sachse
finished the 8th, and Brandon Caldwell, just over from California, tossed a score-
less 9th.

The paid attendance of 50,077 was the largest of the season, surpassing Opening Day's
49,593. Sadaharu Oh, Jr also made his Hawaii debut, pinch-hitting for Sachse in the 8th.
