Valencia, California-

Valencia 3 Hawaii 2- Sunday, August 31, 2064

WP- Octavio Gallardo (1-0)

Attendance- 31,100 at Dunn Field

Inconsistent run production and bullpen put Hawaii on the losing end of a game again. The Trops managed just two runs on five hits and Marty Pearce gives up the go ahead run in the bottom of the 7th to drop to 4-5 with 3 blown saves.

Hawaii catcher Bob Webb was 1 for 3 with a solo homer (12) in the 3rd inning that gave the Trops the lead. After the Stars tied the game in the 4th inning, Harry Surface doubled (29) in the 6th then scored on a Roberto Lopez single.

Hawaii 3 Valencia 2 (11 innings)- Monday, September 1, 2064

WP- Bob Westbrooks (4-4)

LP- Dave Furman (5-3)

Save- Gheorghe Sollomovici (4)

Attendance- 23,817 at Dunn Field

The Trops turn the tables and win a one-run game over the Stars in extras. Starter Buwono Mainaky gave up a run to the Stars in 5.2 innings of work in a no decision then handed the ball to Alex Garcia. Garcia gave up just a hit in 1.1 innings with two Ks then came out of the game after the 7th. Utkan Gocek relieved Garcia and pitched a scoreless 8th inning but slipped in the 9th when Sumiteru okubo made him pay for a misplaced cutter to tie the game up at 2-2. Westbrooks pitched a clean 10th inning with a K to earn the win for Hawaii.

In the top of the 11th, Hawaii began a one-out rally on a Arata Ine single. Carlos Sanchez moved Ine to second on a single but the next batter, Atsushi Gato, struck out. The Stars pulled Dave Furman from the game and inserted Cade ‘Midnight’ Miller to face Antonio Gonzalez. Gonzalez worked the count to 3-2 then lined a single to left that scored Ine with the go-ahead run.

Gheorghe Sollomovici was brought in to make his 2nd appearance in his return from a 4-month injury. Sollomovici gave up a lead-off single then induced to flyouts before striking out the final batter to secure his 2nd save since his return.

Valencia 5 Hawaii 1- Tuesday, September 2, 2064

WP- Nasir al Din bin Sahir (7-9)

LP- Nalany Ahotaein (3-9)

Save- None

Time: 3:04

Attendance- 29,255 at Dunn Field

Valencia starter Nasir al Din bin Sahir shutout the Trops in seven innings on three hits. He walked one and struck out five before exiting the game. Hawaii managed to score a run off his reliever Sam MacPherson. Atsushi Gato doubled (4) in the 8th inning off MacPherson then scored on a one-out double (30) by Harry Surface.

Hawaii starter Nalany Ahotaein gave up four runs on six hits and three walks in 3.2 innings to take the loss. Alex Garcia gave up a run in 1.1 innings of relief with two Ks.


Hawaii 8 Valencia 2- Wednesday, September 3, 2064

WP- Leland ‘Griz’ Rogers (2-2)

LP- Ernesto Escalante (2-11)

Save- None

Time: 3:44

Attendance- 19,060 at Dunn Field

Leland ‘Grizz’ Rogers earns his 2nd win for Hawaii surrendering two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two. He improves to 2-2 with a 4.73 ERA. Utkan Gocek pitched two scoreless innings while issuing a walk and striking out two.

Atsushi Gato was 3 for 4 with a double (5), scored two runs and drove in one. Carlos Sanchez was 2 for 3 with a walk and scored twice. Arata Ine was 3 for 5 and drove in two runs. Backup catcher Armando Medina was 1 for 5 with a two-run homer (5) in the 2nd inning. Miguel ‘Thrillseeker’ Martinez was 1 for 4 with a solo homer (23) in the 3rd inning.

The Hawaii Tropics and the Valencia Stars split the four-game series. They also split the season series with their Pacific Division rivals 7-7.
