Attendance- 44,860 at ‘Iolani Palace

The Twin Cities River Monsters get a big homer off Trops reliever Bob Westbrooks to take a one-run lead over Hawaii. Westbrooks pitched 1.2 innings with three Ks but took the loss to fall to 2-3. Ruben bin Majid al Din made the start going four innings allowing two runs on five hits with a walk and a K.

Carlos Sanchez was 2 for 3 with a double (19) and two RBI. Eric Owens was 1 for 2 with a walk, a double (8), stole a base (8), scored a run and drove in a run. Vincente Mendez was 1 for 3 with a walk, two stolen bases (19) and scored a run.

Twin Cities 6 Hawaii 1- Saturday, June 9, 2063

WP- Yoshii Takuda (3-2)

LP- Slobodan Omeragic (0-4)

Attendance- 43,713 at ‘Iolani Palace

The River Monster’s DH Joseph ‘Jo Momma’ Mother drove in four homer with three coming on a homer as Twin Cities goes up 2-0 on Hawaii. Tropics reliever Jose ‘Mr. Reliable’ Valle was very unreliable as he gave up ‘Jo Momma’s’ three run homer. Slobodan Omeragic took the loss for Hawaii after giving up two runs on three hits in 3.1 innings.

Hawaii could manage just one run off the River Monsters when rookie Vicente ‘Yogi’ Martinez hit a solo homer (23) while going 2 for 4 at the plate.

Hawaii 6 Twin Cities 3- Sunday, June 10, 2063

WP- Alex Garcia (4-2)

LP- Erik Brooks (5-4)

Save- Utkan Gocek (8)

Attendance- 41,760 at ‘Iolani Palace

The Tropics finally get on the board against the Twin Cities River Monsters with the help of rookie Vicente Martinez. Martinez was 3 for 4 with a two-run homer (24). He had some help from 1B Lorenzo Holloway with two RBI and scored two runs while going 2 for 4 at the plate.

Daniel Thornton made the start and did his job pitching 4.1 innings and allowing two runs on three hits. He walked two and fanned five batters in a no decision. Alex Garcia earned the win with 2.2 scoreless innings. He gave up just a hit and struck out three. Utkan Gocek picked up his 8th save with two innings of work but gave up a solo homer, walked one and struck out one.

Twin Cities 4 Hawaii 3- Monday, June 11, 2063

WP- Jerry ‘Flounder’ Stone (6-4)

LP- Semih Gurani (0-3)

Save- Brian Groves (3)

Attendance- 44,627 at ‘Iolani Palace

The River Monsters scored four runs in the 3rd inning to take a 4-2 lead over Hawaii then hold on to earn the series win. Trops starter Semih Gurani gave up all four runs on five hits and three walks in three innings. The bullpen held up to give the offense a chance to catch Twin Cities with Cale Cote, Harry Edwards and Bob Westbrooks each pitched two scoreless innings and combined to allow five hits and fan four.

Vicente Martinez continues to hammer Frick League pitching and was 3 for 5 against the River Monsters. He doubled twice (17), scored a run and had an RBI. Roberto Lopez played left in place of Eric Owens and was 1 for 4 with a walk and scored a run.

The River Monsters win the series 3-1.



Hawaii GM Jim Walker responded to a dumb question with two words. “It sucked.”

Haha, early June slump but by late in the month I got Sollomovici back and dumped Omeragic.
