Hawaii 5 Madison 2- Saturday, May 26, 2063

WP- Marty Pearce (5-1)

LP- Tyler Murray (1-8)

Save- Bob Westbrooks (6)

Attendance- 21,366 at Shotz Stadium

The Hawaii Tropics were held to one extra base hit and ten singles but managed to push across five runs to win Game 1. Jeff Appleton went 3 for 3 with a walk and scored two runs while Julian Rivera was 1 for 4 with a two-RBI double (7) to lead the offense.

Semih Gurani set the tone on the mound pitching 4.1 scoreless innings giving up three hits and issued a walk. Marty Pearce earned the win after pitching 1.2 clean innings with a K while throwing just 11 pitches. Bob Westbrooks pitched a scoreless 9th but gave up two hits with a K for his 6th save.

Hawaii 9 Madison 2- Sunday, May 27, 2063

WP- Reynaldo Trinidad (2-1)

LP- Wesley Turner (5-5)

Attendance- 20,538 at Shotz Stadium

Hawaii’s offense exploded for 9 runs on 15 hits to go up 2-0 on the Wolves in Madison. The Trops had homers from Eric Owens, Vicente ‘Yogi’ Martinez and Jose Ordonez. Owens hit his 6th homer with a solo shot in the 3rd, Martinez cracked his 18th in the 4th and Ordonez hit his 3rd in the 8th inning. Martinez was 3 for 4 with a homer, double (10), scored three runs and drove in three to lead the team.

Martin ‘Lumps’ Garcia pitched 4.1 scoreless innings allowing four hits, walked one and struck out two. Reynaldo Trinidad gave up two runs on three hits in 1.1 innings but managed to earn the win to improve to 2-1.

Madison 9 Hawaii 2- Monday, May 28, 2063

WP- Jesus Gil (1-3)

LP- Ruben bin Majid al Din (2-1)

Attendance- 13,659 at Shotz Stadium

The Madison Wolves turn the table on the Tropics as they hammer Ruben bin Majid al Din for seven runs on six hits and four walks in 3.1 innings to get back in the series. Wolves hurler Jesus Gil was solid for Madison allowing just a run on three hits and six Ks in seven innings of work.

Rookie Hawaii DH Vicente Martinez had two of the Trops four hits and his 19th homer of the season in the 4th inning ended the shutout. Jorge Dodd was 0 for 3 but drove in a run in the top of the 9th with a sac fly.

Madison 6 Hawaii 5- Tuesday, May 29, 2063

WP- Clint ‘Spinach’ Thomas (3-2)

LP- Utkan Gocek (3-2) BS (3)

Attendance- 13,393 at Shotz Stadium

The Wolves shock the Trops with a walk off two-run homer to steal a win and earn a series split. Trops reliever Utkan Gocek made a mistake with a cutter that didn’t cut to Madison’s Gary Fellers. Fellers deposited the pitch 411 feet from home plate in right center to send the Wolves fans howling. Gertie was seen in the Owner’s Box twerking for GM Mike Simon in celebration.

The Trops hit four homers with three of them the solo variety. Mitch Wareham hit his 7th, Armando Medina hit his 7th, Ordonez hit a two-run homer for his 4th and Carlos Schumann got in on the action with his 4th homer in the 7th inning.

Slobodan Omeragic struggled yet again allowing four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two batters in a no decision. Gocek took the loss allowing a run in 0.1 innings with a K.

The Trops and Wolves split the four-game series.
