Whether with 4 hits or 15, Hawaii stopped Buffalo in its tracks in both games of a
home and away interleague series.

Lefty Jake Kestle (4-0, 1.72) opened September by defeating Mark Wheeler (14-9)
as the Tropics scored 2 runs in the 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 9th innings and outhit Buffalo
15 to 8 en route to an 8-3 victory. Kestle scattered 8 hits in nine innings, allowing
three runs on two home runs in the 4th.

It was Kestle's third win in three starts and fourth win in six starts since the 33-year-
old returned from Tommy John surgery.

Resurrection Santos left the game in the 4th after going 2 for 3. An x-ray revealed
a fracture of the shoulder blade that will sideline the oft-injured New Yorker for 4
weeks. Trainer Tian Xin remained mum when asked if Santos would return before
the season's end.

"We probably wouldn't bring him back for 1 or 2 games," team spokesperson Stitch
Lilo said.

Santos has a 14-game hitting streak and hit .330 in 28 games in August.

He had one of 4 Hawai'i hits Tuesday as the Tropics defeated Buffalo 3-1 in the first
game of the series. Rory West (8-8, 4.33) won that game despite himself making
two errors and Al Hughes chipping in another two miscues.

The two-game win streak came after Greenville took 2 of 3 from Hawai'i.

Santos went 4 for 4 with 3 rbis in a 6-3 loss to the Moonshiners Monday.

He ends his first season with Hawai'i .297-6-31 in 81 games and 279 at bats. He slugged
.441 thanks to 14 doubles and four triples. He also was a defensive bulwark in right field.

Santos missed 2.5 weeks in June with a separated shoulder. He was claimed on waivers
from Baltimore in May and has a guaranteed $1.2m contract for 2006 with a team option
$2m the year after.
