Tropics News 2059.06
The Hawaii Tropics bust open the piggy bank and shell out $5,000,000 and redeemed some league points to expand ‘Iolani Palace from 35,000 seats to 40,000. Construction has begun by Hunt and Foster construction to add the seating down he third and first base line seating areas. The Palace Facilities Manager Michael Raymundo is supervising the work and is the Acting Public Affairs contact for the project.
Raymundo said, “We’ve moved all the food and drink kiosk’s out and began adding the sleeve anchors to the cement flooring to add the seats. The Palace was built with expansion in mind and is a quick upgrade to get the seats added. Once the sleeves are installed it’s just as simple as rolling in the new seats and bolting them down.”
Hawaii GM Jim Walker said, “The new seats are state of the art ballpark seating with cube charging ports and remote concession ordering. It’s time to begin adding seating to start getting more revenue.”
