The Tropics make their final trip to Portland in 2058 for a four-game series against the Lumberjacks. Hawaii is 8-2 against Portland this season and lifted their all-time record to 150-129.

The Trops and ‘Jacks exchange runs in the 5th and 6th innings, but Hawaii adds two more in the 7th to get the lead for good. Starter Manny Ortiz may have a neck injury after his start after giving up four gopher balls in his 5.2 innings of work. Troy ‘Teddy Bear’ Reynolds came on in relief of Ortiz to earn the win after throwing 2.1 scoreless. He gave up just one hit as he improves to 2-2 with a 3.56 ERA.

Russ McHaney drove in two runs in the 5th inning on a single that scored Julian Rivera and Angelo Lucchesi. C Frank McMillan put his team up for good with a two-run single in the 7th inning.

Hawaii wins 6-5.

Hawaii starter Elvin Hilliard finally pitched well after a long string of horrible starts. He held the Lumberjacks scoreless for five innings and allowed just four hits, issued a walk, and fanned five batters to earn the win. He improves to 12-13 with a 5.03 ERA.

SS Julien Rivera struck out three times but had a bases loaded double that drove in all three in the 2nd to cap off the four-run inning. Vincente Mendez was 3 for 4 with an RBI and scored a run. Katsumi Matsumoto hit a solo homer (4) in the 4th inning and Jake Diamond went bridge with his 9th of the season in the 8th inning.

Hawaii wins 7-1.

Hawaii starter Semih Gurani flirted with disaster against the Lumberjacks and they finally got him good in the 5th inning. He gave up five runs om nine hits and a couple of walks and falls to 11-7 with a 2.77 ERA. Angelo Lucchesi was 4 for 5 and scored three runs in the loss. Jake Diamond, Frank McMillan and Carlos Sanchez each had RBI singles.

Portland wins 8-3.

The Lumberjacks put up a ten spot on the Trops and earn a series split to spoil any happiness Hawaii could have had. Starter John Moore gave up five of those runs in four innings of work. He gave up those runs on three hits and five walks while fanning five batters. He falls to 0-6 with a 4.25 ERA. Julien Rivera was 1 for 3 with a two-run homer (4) in the 3rd inning.

Portland wins 10-2.
