The Hawaii Tropics return home for an 8-game home stand beginning with a four-game series against the Bikini Krill. The Tropics are 175-155 versus Bikini/Seattle and are 5-1 on the season.

The Tropics get a good start from Elvin Hilliard but the offense is anemic and fall to the Krill in the opener. Bikini has played the game simply by hitting with power and preventing it on the mound. They hit three homers off Hawaii pitching and kept the Trops bats quiet. Hawaii managed just five hits and scored just a run on an RBI double (20) by Mitch Wareham.

Bikini wins 4-1.

The Krill win a nail biter as Hawaii starter Semih Gurani falters. Gurani allowed two 4th inning homers that his team behind and tags him with the loss. He falls to 10-6 with a 2.51 ERA. The Trops offense had a bit more punch against the Krill as they hit three doubles and a homer to put three runs on the board. Despite the loss, Hawaii second baseman Adhyapayana Mehta earned Player of the Game going 2 for 4 with a double (25) and a solo homer (4).

Bikini wins 4-3.

The Krill continue to stifle the Tropics offense as again they put up just a run on five hits. Bikini’s offense hit three more homers and pushed across six runs as they are looking at trying to sweep the Tropics. John Moore gave up two of those homers and three runs on three hits in six innings of work. He falls to 0-3 with a 3.82 ERA. Jake Diamond was in the lineup to give Luis Estrada a breather. He doubled and scored on a Frank McMillan single in the 1st inning to give Hawaii a short lived lead.

Bikini wins 6-1.

The Trops get on the board first again with two runs in the 1st inning, but the Bikini offense is raking. They hit two homers off Gerardo Rea as he gives up three runs on eight hits in seven innings. He falls to 4-8 with a 4.31 ERA. The Trops managed two runs on seven hits with Mehta driving in a run with a double and Carlos Sanchez plating another with a single. The Krill outhomered the Tropics 10-1 in the series.

Bikini wins 3-2.

The Krill sweep the four-game series.

GM Jim Walker said, “Sometimes it’s just as easy as that. Hit homers and don’t allow them.”
