Hawaii Tropics Assistant General Manager Anton Vogts left his office and walked casually to the stairwell. He opened the door, closed it quietly then began to sprint down the stairwell. He ran through the trainer’s room into the storage area leaving Team Trainer Hector Fabian shaking his head. Vogts made a beeline to where he stashed the ‘Oceanwater’ as he called it. He looked behind the Brondo bottles but couldn’t find it. Panic began to fill him with a strong desire to wet himself. Relax. Don’t Do it.
He ran back into the trainer’s room. “Hector! Where is the kid?”, whined Vogts.
Hector responded with, “Dugout.”
Vogts an out the door and went up the tunnel past the locker room to the dugout. “Hey kid!”, yelled Vogts. “Did you use the Brondo bottles in the back?”
The young dugout/locker room attendant stuttered, “Yessir. First in first out. I used it back in June. The guys liked the flavor.”
A strange squeak combined with a gurgle left Anton’s body. “You used all of it?”, sounding crestfallen.
“Yessir.”, answered the young man.
“Oh god.”, gurgled Vogts.
Anton turned and began to retrace his steps as fast as he could, racing past the Trainer’s Room.
Fabian shook his head and spoke to his cube. “Cassie, tell the boss that Vogts was here in training. He looked for something then asked for the kid.”
Cassie said, “Thanks you, Hector.”
Hawaii GM Jim Walker watched his holo from his cube of Vogts when Cassie said, “Hector just told me that Anton was in his office. He looked for something and then asked for the kid.”
Walker said, “Fetch the kid, Cassie.”
Six minutes later there was a soft knock at the door. “Come on in, Gio.”, said Walker.
“Hi, grandpa!”, said Gio.
“What did Anton want with you?”, Walker asked his grandson.
“About some Brondo I used. He was all sweaty, ‘dawg. He sounded sick when I told him I used it.”, said Gio.
Walker’s eyes widened. “You used that Brondo in our jugs?”
“Yessir.”, said Gio.
Walker winced. “Thanks, buddy. Go ahead and take the rest of the day off. Go see grandma.”, he smiled at his grandson.
“Thanks, Grandpa Dawg!”, he said and sprinted out.
“Cassie, I think I got too cute with Vogts and may have sabotaged my own team.”, said Walker.
“It looks that way, Jim but Anton is still responsible. He’s just an idiot.”, said Cassie. Then, “Should I fire him for you?”
“No, I want to keep that guy close. AGMs don’t really do anything anyway.”, said Walker.
“Except poison their team.”, said Cassie.
Walker picked up a nearby clock and threw it.
