The Hawaii Tropics complete the road trip in Valencia with a four-game series against the Stars. The all-time series is 165-161 with the edge going to the Stars over the Trops.

The Tropics manage just four runs in the series has the resurgent Stars get the sweep. Valencia starters dominated the series allowing the Tropics two runs over 25.1 innings on the mound. With the exception of starter Elvin Hilliard, Hawaii starters allowed three runs in 16.2 innings. Hilliard was the outlier as he gave up six runs in just 1.2 innings of work as he continues to have a nightmare second half of the season.

At the plate, Mitch Wareham was 6 for 19 in the series to set the table for Hawaii but was left on every time. To show how effective the Stars pitchers were against the Hawaii offense, he Trops were limited to two extra base hits the entire series.

Hawaii Manager Rich Kerr said, ‘We’re a little confused by what has been happening since June. We have only one pitcher under 100 ERA+ with Hilliard’s struggles but are just a couple of good starts away from getting him over that mark. I think we need some better offensive performances from the big guys. Luis Estrada is having a down year all across the board. Our offense is only as good as he is. Russ McHaney and Frank McMillan have been good protection for him in the lineup but it hasn’t been enough.”

You could hear a clock cry in the distance and a match was struck lighting the fire.
