The Hawaii Tropics ride the waves into Long Beach top begin a six-game road trip. The Trops will play a two-game series against the Surfers then travel to Louisville for four games.

Game 1- Three Long Beach pitchers dominated Hawaii’s lineup as the Surfers shutout the Trops on three hits. Adhyapayana Mehta, Tomas Borges and Katsumi Matsumoto were the only Hawaii hitters to get a hit. Matsumoto did double but was stranded.

Hawaii started Semih Gurani and he pitched 4.2 scoreless inning to keep pace with the Surfers. He allowed four hits and struck put a batter. Bill Williams took the loss after allowing a run in 1.1 innings of relief. He walked two and struck out two as he falls to 2-4 with a 4.91 ERA.



Long Beach wins 3-0.

Game 2- The Trops and Surfers played the game tight for six innings, but the Tropics pulled away late to secure the win. After a dismal showing in the series opener the Hawaii offense scored 10 runs on 14 hits off Long Beach pitching.

Tomas Borges led the way for Hawaii going 3 for 5 with two homers (14). He hit a solo homer in the 5th inning and another solo blast in the 8th. He scored three runs and drove in four total on the day. SS Thomas Kramer was 2 for 4 with a walk, two RBI and scored a run. Matsumoto was 3 for 5 with a double (8), an RBI and scored a run. Mehta was 2 for 5 with a two-run triple (2) in the 6th inning.

John Moore made the start and struggled through 2.1 innings. He allowed three runs on five hits and a walk. He struck out three in the no decision. Bill Williams made his second appearance in the series pitching 1.1 scoreless innings. He gave up a hit and issued a walk. Chih Kuang allowed two runs in 1.1 innings but earned the win to improve to 1-0 with a 1.73 ERA.



Hawaii wins 10-6.



The Tropics split the series with the Surfers.
