The Tropics complete the home stand with a two-game series against the Valencia Stars.

Game 1- The Tropics fall behind the Stars but tie the game up in the 5th inning with three runs. The game remained tied until the top of the 10th when the Stars exploded for three runs. Hawaii attempted a comeback in the bottom of the inning when Tomas Borges doubled. He moved to third on a Shafiq Zahir 6-3 groundout. Borges was stranded there as Will Patterson and Bob Chastain struck out to end the game.

2B Adhyapayana Mehta was 2 for 4 with a double (4) and scored a run. Borges was 1 for 4 with a run. SS Thomas Kramer was 1 for 4 with a double (3) and scored a run. C Katsumi Matsumoto was 1 for 2 with a two-run homer (3) in the 5th inning.

On the mound, John Moore made the start throwing three innings allowing two runs on two hits, two walks with three Ks. Utbah ‘Crawdad Me’ bin Muta was next for Hawaii and threw 2.1 innings allowing a run on three hits and three walks. He struck out two batters. Chih Kuang was very good in relief pitching 2.2 innings allowing just a hit with two Ks. Luis Perez was the exact opposite allowing three runs on three hits and a walk. He struck out two in 1.1 innings as he falls to 0-1 with a 5.95 ERA.



Valencia wins 6-3.

Game 2- The Hawaii Tropics struck early against the Stars as they scored two in the 1st and 2 more in the 2nd inning to get the early lead. The pitching staff tool it from there as they allowed Valencia two runs on eight hits and two walks.

Manny Ortiz made the start for Hawaii throwing 84 pitches in 5.2 innings. He allowed two runs on seven hits with three Ks. He earned the win to improve to 2-2 with a 2.96 ERA. Chih Kuang followed with 1.1 scoreless innings with a walk and three strikeouts. Juan Martinez was better than he has been with a scoreless inning. He gave up a hit and struck out a batter. Luis Perez redeemed himself with a scoreless inning for his 3rd save. He walked one and fanned two batters.

At the plate, Adhyapayana Mehta was 3 for 4 with an RBI triple in the first innings. He scored a run and drove in two runs. Katsumi Matsumoto had a good series for the Trops as he finished the game 1 for 3 with a two-run homer (4).



Hawaii wins 5-2.



The Tropics and Stars split the two-game series.
