The Tropics finish up the road trip with a three-game series with the Portland Lumberjacks.



Game 1- Lumberjacks starter Chris Thompson shutout the Trops on two hits as Portland wins the series opener. Hawaii starter Michael Kalil pitched 5 1/3 innings allowing four runs on seven hits and a couple of walks. He struck out four batters as he falls to 3-4 with a 5.37 ERA. Utkan Gocek pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief allowing just two hits, walked one and fanned three.

Adhyapayana Mehta was 1 for 2 with a walk and Thomas Kramer was 1 for 3.



Portland wins 4-0.



Game 2- The Lumberjacks broke a 5-5 tie in the 7th inning with 5 runs off reliever Juan Martinez. Martinez surrendered the runs on four hits and a walk in 2/3 of an inning. Starter Austin George gave up the first five Portland runs in 4 1/3 innings. He allowed seven hits and a walk while fanning seven batters. Chih Kuang pitched s 1 1/3 scoreless allowing two hits. Jesus Rios pitched 1 3 innings of scoreless ball allowing a hit and walked a couple of batters. He struck out one.

Pedro Huerta did all he could to keep Hawaii in the game going 2 for 4 with a double and a two-run homer. He scored two runs and drove in four. Mike Campbell was 1 for 3 with a walk and a ribbie.



Portland wins 10-5.



Game 3- The Lumberjacks complete the series sweep with another shutout of the Tropics. Hawaii starter Terry Hansen stumbled out of the gate allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits and walked four batters. He struck out a batter and falls to 3-3 with a 3.42 ERA. Daruna Maddukuri allowed two runs on two hits with two Ks in 1 2/3 innings. Utkan Gocek pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings allowing just a hit with a K.

Mehta was 1 for 2 and was lifted for a pinch hitter in the 7th. Karunamaya Makarand was the pinch hitter and stayed in the game to play second, He was also 1 for 2. Mitch Wareham was 1 for 4, Angelo Lucchesi was 1 for 3 and Katsumi Matsumoto was 1 for 3.



Portland wins 8-0.



The Lumberjacks sweep the three-game series.
