The Tropics make their next stop of the road trip in the Twin Cities for a three-games series against the River Monsters.
Game 1- The Tropics starter Troy ‘Teddy Bear’ Reynolds and two relievers combine for a one-hit shutout of the River Monsters. Reynolds pitched six innings allowing just the one hit. He walked two and struck out three as he improves to 4-1 with a 2.67 ERA. Bill Ritz followed with two scoreless innings and walked one with a K. Juan Martinez then earned the save by striking out the side in the 9th.
Ramao ‘Massacre’ Saturnino was 1 for 4 with a solo homer in the 6th inning. Mike Campbell was 1 for 4 with a solo homer in the 9th inning.
Hawaii wins 2-0.
Game 2- Hawaii RF Pedro Huerta hit two homers against the River Monsters as he powered the Tropics to victory. Huerta was 2 for 4 with a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and a solo shot in the 8th.
Adam Backhouse was 1 for 4 with a double, scored a run and drove in a run. Angelo Lucchesi was 2 for 4 with a double and scored a run. Will Patterson was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Thomas Kramer was 1 for 3 with a double, a walk and scored a run.
Semih Gurani earned the win with 5 1/3 innings of work. He allowed two runs on three hits and a couple of walks. He fanned five batters as he improved to 5-3 with a 3.08 ERA. Jesus Rios stumbled as he allowed two runs on three hits with a K in two innings but still earned a hold. Angel Hernandez walked a batter and struck one out before exiting the game with forearm tightness. Dominic Thompson earned the save with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. He gave up two hits and struck out a batter.
Hawaii wins 6-4.
Game 3- Hawaii star Mike Campbell hit a solo homer in the 8th inning to break a 3-3 tie and the Tropics finish off the series sweep. Campbell was 2 for 4 with the go-ahead solo homer and a double. He scored a run and drove in three.
Pedro Huerta was 1 for 4 with a double, scored a run and drove in a run. Adam Backhouse was 2 for 4 and scored a run. Ramao Saturnino was 0 for 2 with a couple of walks and scored a run.
Michael Kalil pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing three runs on six hits and three walks. He struck out five batters in the no decision. Utkan Gocek earned the win to improve to 3-0 with 1 1/3 innings of work. He gave up just two hits and lowers his ERA to 2.55. Bill Ritz earned his 4th save as he threw two scoreless innings. He gave up two hits, walked two and struck out one.
Hawaii wins 4-3.
The Tropics sweep the three-game series.
