The Tropics get a day off at the beach then resume the home stand with a three-game series against the Sacramento Mad Popes.

Saturnino was 3 for 4, scored three runs and drove in four. Backhouse was 2 for 5 with a run scored and three ribbies. Thomas Kramer was 2 for 3 with a double and a two-run homer. He scored three runs and drove in four. Mike Campbell was 3 for 3 with a walk and scored a run.

Semih Gurani was stingy when the Mad Popes passed the collection plate as he gave up an unearned run on just two hits and a walk in 6 1/3 innings. He struck out five as he improves to 2-2 with a 2.36 ERA. Bill Ritz relieved Gurani and allowed just a hit with a walk and two Ks to finish off the win in 2 2/3 innings.

Hawaii wins 11-1.

Game 2- The Mad Popes turn the table on the Tropics as they reverse the score to tie the series 1-1. Hawaii starter Michael Kalil struggled in five innings of work allowing five runs on seven hits and a couple of walks. He struck out just one as he falls to 1-2 with a 7.06 ERA. Jesus Rios fared no better than Kalil as he allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk while getting just one out. Phil Thompson ate some innings as he threw three innings allowing just a hit with two Ks. Dominic Thompson followed that up with two innings of work allowing another hit and fanning one.
