The Tropics make their next stop in San Fernando for a three-game series against the Bears. The Bears hold a 7-4 edge in the season series.



Game 1- The Bears score four runs in the 5th, a run in the 6th and three in the 7th to rush pass the Tropics and take the series opener going away. Rookie Hawaii starter Juan Martinez gave up six runs on seven hits and three walks. He didn’t strike out a batter in four innings and falls to 2-3 with a 4.21 ERA.

The Trops bullpen gave up five runs on relief of Martinez with Tomas Franco allowing a run in 2/3 of an inning. Chih Kuang gave up a run in an inning and Alberto Castaneda gave up a three-run homer in his inning. Phil Thompson had the only success for his team with a scoreless 1 1/3 innings. He gave up a hit and fanned two batters.

Adhyapayana Mehta was 3 for 5 with a stolen base and a run scored. Mike Campbell was 2 for 4 with a walk, scored a run, drove in a run but was also caught stealing. Frank McMillan was 3 for 5 with two solo homers.



San Fernando wins 11-6.



Game 2- The Bears fall behind the Trops 6-0 but score eight unanswered runs to go up 2-0 in the series. The Hawaii bullpen melted down again. Tye Whitford made the biggest mess as he gave up two homers and five hits that resulted in four runs. He pitched 1 1/3 innings with a K and is tagged with the loss to fall to 3-4 with a 5.75 ERA.

Michael Kalil made the start for Hawaii going four innings and throwing 88 pitches. He allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk while fanning a batter.

Mehta was 2 for 5 with a double, scored a run and drove in a run. Mitch Wareham was 1 for 5 with a two-run homer, his first in the BBA. Pedro Huerta was 2 for 4 with a solo homer, two runs scored and an RBI. Frank McMillan was 1 for 4 with a two-run homer in the 3rd inning.



San Fernando wins 8-6.



Game 3- The Bears hold off a late Tropics rally to get the one-run win and sweep the series. Hawaii scored two runs in the 8th inning to make it a one-run game. Mehta was 3 for 5 with three ribbies. Mehta was 8 for 15 in the series with two runs scored and four RBI. Rhys Brickell was 1 for 4 with a walk, a stolen base and scored two runs. Thomas Kramer was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

Troy ‘Teddy Bear’ Reynolds struggled against the San Fernando lineup allowing four runs on five hits. He struck out four batters but gets a no decision. Juan Cerda gets tagged with the loss after allowing two runs on two solo homer in two innings of work. He struck out three batters and falls to 7-8 with a 4.23 ERA. Rookie Utkan Gocek pitched a couple of innings allowing a run on two hits.



San Fernando wins 7-6.



The Bears sweep the three-game series.
