The Tropics return home for a four-game home stand against Heartland powerhouse Nashville Bluebirds.



Game 1- Hawaii starter Semih Gurani pitched seven dominant innings against the Bluebirds as the Tropics take the series opener. Gurani allowed just six hits and walked one while fanning three batters for the win. He improves to 1-1 with a 1.29 ERA. Dominic Thompson took the ball in relief and threw 1 2/3 innings allowing a run on three hits with a K. Angel Hernandez earned the one out save while throwing six pitches.

The Tropics were held to three runs on five hits, but hitters worked three walks and struck out just five times. Mike Campbell led the way as he was 1 for 3 with a walk, a run scored, an RBI and was caught stealing. Rhys Brickell was 1 for 4 with a two RBI double. Pedro Huerta was 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored.



Hawaii wins 3-1.



Game 2- The Bluebirds have left their bats in their nest as Hawaii pitching allows a run on just four hits to take a 2-0 series lead. Terry Hansen was on his game as he threw 6 1/3 innings allowing the only run on three hits, walked four and struck out four batters. He earned the win to improve to 1-0 with a 3.75 ERA. Jason Wellon fired 1 2/3 innings of relief allowing just a hit and striking out three batters. Alberto Castaneda pitched a clean ninth and struck out two.

The Trops offense put up nine runs on twelve hits and walked five times while fanning nine. Adhyapayana Mehta was 2 for 4 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI. Angelo Lucchesi was 2 for 5 with a triple and three ribbies. Pedro Huerta was 1 for 4 with a walk, a double, a run scored and an RBI. Rhys Brickell was 2 for 4 with a walk, a stolen base and scored two runs. Thomas Kramer was 2 for 4 with a run scored and two RBI. Al Garrett was 1 for 2 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI.



Hawaii wins 9-1.



Game 3- Hawaii starter Michael Kalil extends his scoreless streak to begin the season two 12 innings and Mike Campbell hits two homers to lead the Trops to a 3-0 series lead.

Kalil pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up just three hits and issued one walk. He struck out three and improved his record to 2-0. Chih Kuang came on to get the final out of the seventh for Kalil. He induced a liner to center to get the job done. Alberto Castaneda was brought in and he made the game interesting as he allowed three runs on two hits and a walk while getting the lone out via the K. He was relieved by Juan Cerda who also stumbled a bit allowing a run on two hits and two walks. He struck out two batters in 1 1/3 innings. Dominic Thompson earned the one out save for his 2nd of the season.

Campbell was 3 for 5 with a two-run shot in the first inning and a solo shot in the seventh. Thomas Kramer was 1 for 4 with two RBI. Rhys Brickell was 3 for 4 with a run scored and Masaki ‘Icon’ Sato matched that effort with a 3 for 4 day and a run scored. Ramao ‘Massacre’ Saturnino was 1 for 5 with a double and a run scored. He also threw out two runners at home.



Hawaii wins 5-4.



Game 4- The Bluebirds avoid a series sweep by jumping on Hawaii starter Troy ‘Teddy Bear’ Reynolds early for six runs and hold on late for the win. Reynolds allowed all six runs in the second inning and then left the game. His line was 1 2/3 IP with six runs allowed on seven hits and a walk. Tye Whitford came on to get the game under control. He threw 2 1/3 innings of solid relief giving up two hits with a K. Jason Wellon followed with two scoreless innings allowing a hit, a walk and struck out two. Angel Hernandez pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk. Juan Cerda pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk and a K while Dominic Thompson pitched the final 1 1/3 innings allowing a hit and fanned three batters.

Rhys Brickell was 4 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Pedro Huerta was 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored. Quinton Lara was 2 for 3 with a double and a solo homer. He scored a run and drove in three.



Nashville wins 6-5.



Hawaii wins the series 3-1.



GM Jim Walker said, "I'm surprised by this series outcome. Some clocks may be spared this season."

That was a rough series, but I expected Hawaii to be much better this season.
