The Hawaii Tropics begin a short three-game road trip to play a series in Portland against the Lumberjacks.



Game 1- The Lumberjacks win the series opener on a walk off solo homer off Hawaii reliever Angel Hernandez. Hernandez falls to 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA as he pitched an inning allowing the game winner while also striking out a batter.

Michael Kalil made the start for the Trops and threw 6 2/3 innings allowing four runs on five hits and a couple of walks. He struck out three and also allowed three homers in the no decision.

Kalil said, “I just couldn’t keep the ball down against those Lumberjack hitters.”

Ramao ‘Massacre’ Saturnino was 2 for 3 with two RBI and was caught stealing. Stewart Illingworth was 2 for 3 with a double, a walk, a run scored, an RBI and was also caught stealing. Rhys Brickell was 1 for 3 with a walk, a run scored an RBI and a stolen base.



Portland wins 5-4.



Game 2- Hawaii starter Carlos Valle and three relievers shut down the Portland offense and evened the series 1-1. Valle pitched five scoreless innings giving up five hits and walking three batters. He fanned one as he improves to 1-2 with a 4.71 ERA. Jason Wellon came on in relief of Valle and threw two clean innings before handing the ball to Angel Hernandez. Hernandez gave up two hits in 1 2/3 innings of work while striking out three batters. Dominic Thompson induced a ground ball to get the final out of the game to earn the save.

Adhyapayana Mehta was 2 for 4 with a couple of doubles, a stolen base, a run scored and an RBI. Ron Shiplack was 1 for 4 with an RBI.



Hawaii wins 3-0.



Game 3- The Lumberjacks pound out 14 hits and score 9 runs off Hawaii starter Austin George as they win the rubber game to take the series. George allowed five runs on six hits and four walks on his way to falling to 1-3. He now has a disgusting 9.00 ERA so far this season.

Ramao Saturnino was 1 for 2 with a double and a walk. He drove in a run. Angelo Lucchesi was 2 for 4 with a triple and a run scored. Ron Shiplack was 1 for 3 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored.



Portland wins 9-2.



Portland wins the series 2-1.
