The Hawaii Tropics return home for a three game series against the San Fernando Bears at Diamond Head.



Game 1- The Trops explode for a 10 run first inning and score 22 runs in the game on 25 hits as the Tropics boat race the Bears at Diamond Head. Hawaii began with a tattooing of San Fernando starter Ricardo Moreno scoring seven runs on six hits and a walk off the veteran righty in just 16 pitches before leaving the game.

Every Tropics position player recorded at least two hits with Adhyapayana Mehta and Tomas Guillen leading the group with four hits a piece.

Mehta was 3=4 for 5 with a walk, scoring three runs and driving in a run. Guillen was 4 for 6 with a double, a homer, three runs scored and five RBI. Hector Vazquez was the short stop and was 3 for 6 with a double and a triple. He scored four runs and drove in four runs. Ramao ‘Massacre’ Saturnino was 3 for 5 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and two RBI. Rhys Brickell was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Alejandro Ortiz was 2 for 6 with a run scored and three RBI. Ron Shiplack was 3 for 6 with a couple of homers, three runs scored and six RBI. Carlos Sanchez was 2 for 5 with a solo homer and Sergio Feliz was 2 for 5 with a double and two runs scored. Felix and Brickell were the only Tropics hitters without an RBI.


On the mound, Troy ‘Teddy Bear’ Reynolds benefitted from the run support and threw strikes. He pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing three runs on four hits, walked three and fanned four batters. He earned the win to improve to 3-2 with a 5.40 ERA. Kirana Shivani had a dominating relief outing pitching 2 1/3 innings and struck out a batter.



Hawaii wins 22-3.



Game 2- The Bears were down 1-0 late to the Hawaii Tropics but erupt for seven runs in the eighth inning to even the series 1-1. Reliever Ronnie Sprinkles was roughed up by San Fernando for five runs on four hits and a couple of walks while recording just two outs. He passed the baton to Jason Wellon to finish out the game. Wellon gave up a couple of runs on 1 1/3 innings of work on four hits.

Semih Gurani made the start for the Trops and was lights out as he pitched six innings allowing just a hit, issued a walk and fanned five batters. Sumitomo Takahashi pitched a clean inning to earn his 5th hold of the season before the Sprinkles implosion.

Ron Shiplack was 0 for 3 with an RBI. Rhys Brickell was 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored.



San Fernando wins 7-1.



Game 3- The Tropics pitchers shut down the Bears offense and cruise to a series win in the rubber match. Daruna Maddukuri was throwing first pitch strikes and keeping the Bears hitters guessing as he pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing just three hits and a couple of walks. He fanned five batters to improve to 5-6 with a 4.88 ERA. Alberto Castaneda followed that effort with a one hit 1 2/3 innings with a K. Denny Hamilton closed it out getting one of the two outs via the K and walking a batter.

Alejandro Ortiz was 3 for 4 with a double and a two run homer. He scored a run and drove in three runs. Rhys Brickell was 3 for 4 with a double two runs scored and two RBI. Tomas Guillen was 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI.



Hawaii wins 8-0.
