The Hawaii Tropics host the Omaha Cyclones in a four game series at Diamond Head.

Game 1- The Hawaii Tropics convert three Cyclone errors into three runs as the Trops take the series opener. Hawaii scored two of those three runs in the sixth inning before adding two more earned runs in the seventh inning to pull away.

Rhys Brickell and Alejandro Ortiz drove in two runs apiece while also scoring a run each. Brickell was 2 for 4 while Ortiz was 2 for 3 with a walk and his 17th double of the season.

Daruna Maddukuri won his 3rd game of the season with a 6 1/3 inning performance allowing three runs on six hits. He walked three and fanned five as he improved to 3-6 with a 5.38 ERA. Sumitomo Takahashi finished out the seventh inning for Maddukuri with a K for his 4th hold. Ronnie Sprinkles earned his 7th save allowing just two hits in two innings of work.

Hawaii wins 6-3.

Game 2- Omaha commits two more errors that result in a Hawaii run as the Trops pour on the runs in the win. Brickell and Ortiz combined again to drive in two runs apiece and score two runs each. Brickell was 1 of 2 with a walk and a solo homer and Ortiz was 2 for 3 with a solo homer. Carlos Sanchez was 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI.

Michael Kalil made the start for Hawaii throwing 88 pitches but making it only 3 2/3 innings. He gave up a run on three hits while walking four and fanning four in a no decision.

Tomas Franco earned the win after pitching 1 1/3 innings allowing just a hit and striking out a batter. Kirana Shivani pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing just a hit while fanning three batters. Tye Whitford threw 1 2/3 innings allowing just a hit and striking out one batter.

Hawaii wins 9-1.

Game 3- Omaha gets a win after holding off a late Hawaii comeback attempt. Thomas Kramer hit a bases loaded double in the bottom of the ninth to push across two runs for Hawaii but the Trops fell short. Kramer was 1 for 4 with two RBI and is hitting .245 with 2 HR and 25 RBI this season.

Austin George gave his team four innings of work allowing three runs on five hits and a couple of walks. He struck out three batters but falls to 4-7 with a 5.31 ERA. Alberto Castaneda pitched a clean 2 1/3 innings with 3 Ks.

Omaha wins 4-2.

Game 4- The Omaha Cyclones get a series split with the Hawaii Tropics after breaking a 2-2 tie with a big four run sixth inning. Troy ‘Teddy Bear’ Reynolds pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out four batters. But the damage was done by Omaha against Sumitomo Takahashi. Takahashi was pasted by Cyclone hitters allowing three runs on two hits and a walk while retiring just two batters. He falls to 1-2 with a 4.12 ERA.

Angelo Lucchesi was 2 for 2 with two walks, a double and a two run homer. He scored a run and drove in two runs for the Trops.

Sounds of the series: “I think I’m gonna puke.”
