The Hawaii Tropics host the Louisville Sluggers in a four game series at old Diamond Head.



Game 1- The Tropics score three runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth to take the lead and pull away with the win. Hector Vazquez and Ron Shiplack post 3 for 4 days at the plate to lead the Trops offense. Vazquez doubled and drove in two runs while Shiplack doubled and homered to score two runs and drive in two. Angelo Lucchesi added 2 hits in 4 at bats with a triple, a run scored and two RBI.

Daruna Maddukuri found his groove pitching 5 1/3 innings allowing just a run on three hits. He walked three and fanned three in a no decision. Tye Whitford earned the win after just getting one batter out via the K. He also walked a batter and improves to 1-1 with a 5.48 ERA.



Hawaii wins 6-4.



Game 2- The Tropics score late again to take the lead and steal a win from the Sluggers to go up 2-0 in the series. Rhys Brickell was 3 for 4 with a double and a solo homer. He scored two runs and drove in two runs. He had help from right fielder Tomas Guillen as Guillen was 2 for 4 with a solo homer of his own. He also scored two and drove in a couple of runs.

Semih Gurani made the start for the Tropics going five innings allowing three runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out four batters in a no decision. Jason Wellon earns the win by pitching two scoreless innings giving up just a hit while walking three batters. He improves to 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA.



Hawaii wins 5-4.



Game 3- The Tropics jump out to a 3-0 lead before losing that lead in a big three run inning by the Sluggers in the sixth. This time Hawaii responded with two runs in the seventh inning to take the lead and extend their winning streak to five games.

Adhyapayana Mehta was 3 for 5 with two runs scored at the top of the order for Hawaii. Vazquez was 2 for 3 with a run scored before exiting the game for a pinch hitter. Abay Azzouzj hasn’t done much this season for Hawaii but he was 1 for 3 with a double, a walk and drove in a run.

Michael Kalil took the mound for Hawaii and pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing three runs on four hits and three walks. He struck out six batters in a no decision.

Kalil said. “I need to get some control of these pitches and keep runners off base.”

Denny Hamilton earned the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless ball with a K. He improves to 1-2 with a 3.33 ERA. Ronnie Sprinkles pitched another 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and walked one in earning his seventh hold of the season. Tye Whitford earns the save getting the final two outs via the K.



Hawaii wins 5-3.



Game 4- The Hawaii Tropics finish off the Sluggers with a team win for the sweep. Austin George made the start and pitched four innings allowing just a run on four hits. He walked three and fanned three before handing the ball over to Alberto Castaneda. Castaneda pitched an inning giving up a hit, walked one and struck out one to get the win. He improves to 2-1 with a 3.94 ERA. The rest of the bullpen allowed two hits the rest of the way with five walks but allowed just one more run.

On offense, Hawaii had solo bombs from Tomas Guillen and Alejandro Ortiz while Ron Shiplack was 1 for 3 with an RBI double.



Hawaii wins 3-2.
