The Hawaii Tropics begin a seven game road trip with a four game series in San Fernando against the Bears. Hawaii holds a small lead in the season series against the Bears at 4-3.



Game 1- The Hawaii Tropics hit two Grand Slams and a solo homer to run away with the series opener. With the game tied 1-1 in the top of the fifth inning, the Trops Thomas Kramer hit a solo homer to put Hawaii up 2-1. After Hawaii loaded the bases, rookie Rhys Brickell blasted the first Grand Slam to make it 6-1.

In the seventh, Hawaii loaded the bases again and this time the big hit was provided by Bronx ‘Little Bron’ Cortez to make the score 10-1. Hawaii added two more runs in the eighth to end the nights scoring.

Adhyapayana Mehta was 4 for 5 with a walk and two runs scored. Brickell finished the day 1 for 3 with a walk, the Grand Slam, two runs scored and four RBI. Cortez was 2 for 4 with a walk, a Grand Slam, a run scored and four RBI.

On the mound, Hawaii Bill Dempsey pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up just a run on three hits, a walk and one strikeout. He improves to 8-9 with a 4.38 ERA. Alberto Castaneda followed Dempsey with 2 1/3 inning of work. He allowed just a hit and fanned four batters. Eddie Pierce pitched a clean 1 1/3 with a K.



Hawaii wins 12-1.



Game 2- Tropics SP Daruna Maddukuri was on his game with six innings of shut out baseball. He allowed just two hits but walked five batters. He fanned five and earned the win to improve to 8-6 with a 2.83 ERA.Tye Whitford pitched 2 1/3 innings of relief giving up just a hit and struck out three batters.

Adhyapayana Mehta was 2 for 5 with a run scored. Rhys Brickell was 2 for 3 with a walk and a double. He scored a run, drove in a run and stole a base. Bron Cortez was 1 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Rookie Angelo Lucchesi was 1 for 4 with two RBI.



Hawaii wins 5-0.



Game 3- The San Fernando Bears pound out 14 hits resulting in 10 runs and their pitchers shut out the Tropics to break through for a win.

Angelo Lucchesi was 2 for 3 and Stephen Cox was 2 for 4.

SP Yacker ’91 Cents’ Wiley made it through two innings before leaving with an apparent UCL tear. He will be out for 12-13 months before he can make a return for the Tropics. He gave up two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out one in the loss. He falls to 1-3 with a 4.42 ERA.



San Fernando wins 10-0.



Game 4- Hawaii used power and pitching to win the series finale and take the series 3-1. Stephen Cox and Bron Cortez hit two homers apiece while Thomas Kramer was 5 for 5 with two runs scored and swiped two bases.

SP Semih Gurani pitched 5 innings giving up three runs on eight hits and fanned nine to improve to 5-0 with a 2.03 ERA.

Mehta was 3 for 6 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI. Cortez finished the day 2 for 5 with two runs scored and five RBI. Cox was 3 for 5 with two runs scored and three RBI.



Hawaii wins 11-5.
