The Hawaii Tropics host the Des Moines Kernels in a four series at Diamond Head. The Tropics have a 3-1 season series advantage.



Game 1- Hawaii Rookie SP Semih Gurani had another good performance for the Tropics as they take the series opener. Gurani pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing just an unearned run on two hits and three walks. He fanned six batters and improves to 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA.

Alberto Castaneda pitched two innings walking one and striking out one then he yielded to Seung-hwan Yu to get the last out.

Bernardo Garcia was 2 for 5 with a stolen base, a run scored and an RBI. Thomas Kramer was 2 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Katsumi Matsumoto was 2 for 3 with a two run homer and three runs scored. Rookie Angelo Lucchesi was 2 for 4 with two stolen bases, an RBI and a run scored.



Hawaii wins 10-1.



Game 2- The Tropics fall behind the Kernels 3-0 after the first inning but score six runs in a big seventh inning to get the lead and a win. Hawaii SP Ernie Poole settled down after getting shelled in the first for three runs. He finished with five innings pitched with just the three runs allowed on seven hits and a walk. He fanned six batters in a no decision.

Luis Santiago came on in relief and pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up just a hit and struck out two.Sumitomo Takahashi recorded the final two outs in the seventh and earned the in. Denny Hamilton pitched the final two innings to secure the save. He walked one and struck out one batter.

Adhyapayana Mehta was 1 for 3 with a double, a walk and two RBI. Thomas Kramer was 2 for 4 with a run scored and two RBI.

Hawaii wins 6-3.



Game 3- The Tropics survive a comeback attempt by the Kernels and assure themselves of a series win. Thomas Kramer led the Hawaii offense going 1 for 3 with a double, a walk and four RBI. Angelo Lucchesi was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Lorenzo Gonzales was 3 for 4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Adhyapayana Mehta was 2 for 4 with two stolen bases, a run scored and an RBI.

Bill Dempsey went five innings for Hawaii allowing two runs (one earned) on a ht and two walks. He fanned seven batters and improves to 7-9 with a 4.51 ERA. Denny Hamilton earned another save with two clean innings of relief with a strikeout.



Hawaii wins 9-6.



Game 4- Hawaii ran into some good Des Moines pitching in the series finale as the Kernels avoid the sweep with a win.

SP Daruna Maddukuri had a decent start for Hawaii allowing three runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings pitched. He struck out seven batters and falls to 7-6 with a 2.98 ERA.

Adhyapayana Mehta had a bug day at the plate going 4 for 5 with a double and a stolen base but Hawaii managed their only run on a solo homer off the bat of Bronx ‘Little Bron’ Cortez.



Des Moines wins 4-1.
