The Tropic News 2049.40
The Hawaii Tropics continue their home stand with a four game series against the Madison Wolves at Diamond Head. Madison is 3-1 against Hawaii so far this season.
Game 1- The Tropics and Wolves bash each other over nine innings with Madison coming out on top in the end. Madison slapped around Hawaii SP Sumitomo Takahashi for six runs on seven hits and a walk while fanning two batters. The Trops tool advantage of errors and walks to put up six runs (four earned) on Madison starter Leonard Thornton.
Katsumi Matsumoto was 2 for 4 with a two run homer. A run scored and three RBI. He was assisted by Enrique Hernandez who was 1 for 2 with a walk, a solo homer, a run scored and two RBI. Hong-vu ‘Topper’ Sam was 1 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Madison wins 8-6.
Game 2- The Madison Wolves get out of self inflicted jams with by turning four double plays on their way to another win over Hawaii. The Tropics managed eight hits and were issued four walks but could only plate a run.
Stephen Cox was 1 for 3 with a solo homer and a walk. Thomas Kramer was 2 for 4 with a double and was caught stealing. Jorge Salas was 2 for 3 and was caught stealing. Bernardo Garcia was 3 for 3 with a double.
SP Ernie Poole pitched six innings allowing four runs on seven hits and walked three batters. He falls to 5-10 with a 3.09 ERA.
Madison wins 4-1.
Game 3- The Wolves shut out the Tropics with a fine pitching performance by Yorikane Miyamoto. Hawaii could must just three hits with two coming from Bernardo Garcia (2 for 3).
Bill Dempsey pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six runs on seven hit while walking none and striking out three. He falls to 5-8 with a 4.98 ERA.
Madison wins 8-0.
Game 4- The Hawaii Tropics get a big game pitched by rookie SP Daruna Maddukuri. He pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up no runs on five hits and fanning four batters. He improves to 6-4 with a 2.94 ERA. Luis Santiago pitched 1 2/3 of clean baseball striking out a batter to earn his fifth hold.Denny Hamilton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up just a hit and striking out one for his fourteenth hold. Rich Martinez recorded the final two outs to earn his fourth save of the season.

Hawaii wins 3-0.
