The Hawaii Tropics claimed Seung-Hwan Yu from the Nashville Bluebirds organization on January 2nd to help bolster the bullpen. Scouts rave about his velocity as he regularly hits the century mark on he gun. He throws a four seamer and a heavy sinker that shreds bats.
GM Jim Walker said, “We are getting as much pitching talent we can find on the cheap.”
Yu was signed out of South Korea as a minor league free agent in January 2041 by the Bluebirds at the tender age of 16. Yu worked his way through the Nashville system ending with the last two seasons in AAA Orlando. Over two seasons in Orlando he has 95 innings pitched with a 3.13 ERA, 48 punchies and 8 walks.
