The Hawaii Tropics play their final series with Portland with three games against the Lumberjacks at The Trail in Multnomah.



Game 1- Hawaii SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson goes eight innings and the Tropics offense gets some timely hitting to take the series opener from Portland.

Johnson gave up three runs on eight hits but walked none and fanned five batters. He escaped with the win to improve to 11-14 with a 4.47 ERA. Denny Hamilton pitched the ninth allowing just a hit to get the save.

Stephen Cox was 1 for 1 with a pinch ht two run homer in the seventh inning. Mike Campbell was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Jorge Salas was 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.



Hawaii wins 4-3.



Game 2- The Tropics cruise to a win with a big six run fifth inning to assure them of a series win. Every Tropic hitter had at least one hit in the game. Rookie Adhyapayana Mehta was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Mike Campbell was 2 for 4 with a walk, a run scored and two RBI. Backup catcher Katsumi Matsumoto was 1 for 5 with two RBI.

Maup Manshert took the mound for Hawaii and pitched five innings allowing just a run on six hits. He walked three and fanned seven batters. He earned the win to improve to 6-14 with a 4.24 ERA After Alberto Castaneda allowed two runs in the sixth inning Ronnie Sprinkles took the ball. Sprinkles pitched 2 2/3 innings allowing a run on two hits and struck out one. Jon Whaley came on to get the last out but allowed a run on two hits before finally securing the win.

Hawaii wins 9-5.



Game 3- The Lumberjacks avoid a series sweep with a win over the Trops to end the season series. Hawaii only managed five hits and two runs off of Portland pitching. Ron Shiplack was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI while Mike Campbell was 1 for 4 with a solo homer.

Bill Dempsey took his fourth loss with four runs allowed over five innings pitched. He allowed seven hits and fanned two batters. He is 0-4.



Portland wins 5-2 but Hawaii wins the series 2-1.
