The Hawaii Tropics return home for a three game series against the San Fernando Bears at Diamond Head.



Game 1- SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani and the Hawaii bullpen shut down the Bears offense allowing just four hits and a run. Destefani started it off with 6 1/3 innings giving up all four hits and the run. He walked one and fanned eight batters. RP Tye Whitford finished the seventh inning recording two outs. Finally, RP Ronnie Sprinkles came on to finish the game and pitched a clean eighth and ninth to get the win.

Mike Campbell was 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI. Bronx ‘Little Bron’ Cortez was 1 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI.



Hawaii wins 3-1.



Game 2- The Bears and Tropics battle to a 2-2 tie in nine innings but San Fernando secures the win with a three run tenth inning. SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson got the start for Hawaii pitching 4 2/3 innings. He gave up two runs on three hits but walked four and fanned six. Tye Whitford pitched again but was ineffective as he gave up the three runs in the tenth in just 1/3 of an inning.

Mike Campbell was 2 for 5 with a run scored and a stolen base. Bronx Cortez was 2 for 5 with a solo homer. Otto ‘Don’t call me Omar’ Altaner was 1 for 3 with an RBI.



San Fernando wins 5-2.



Game 3- The Bears continued to out pitch the Tropics as they win the rubber match and the series. Hawaii SP Maup Manshert pitched five innings surrendering three run son six hits. He walked none and struck out five in the loss. He falls to 5-14 with a 4.39 ERA. Scott Lucas had a good outing with 2 1/3 innings of hitless baseball and he fanned two batters. Rich Martinez kept the Tropics in the game with 1 2/3 innings of work giving up just one hit.

Katsumi Matsumoto was 2 for 2 with a double and a solo homer.



San Fernando wins 3-1 and wins the series 2-1.
