The Hawaii Tropics end August and begin September with a three game series against the Louisville Sluggers.
Game 1- The Sluggers turn three double plays to stifle any Hawaii rally and take the series open easily. Luis Gonzales pitched a complete game for Louisville giving up just a run on seven hits to Hawaii hitters and striking out five.
Hawaii SP Maup Manshert had a good game pitching seven innings allowing three runs on five hits, walking no one and fanning six.
Otto Altaner had a 3 for 3 day at the plate for the Trops.
Louisville wins 5-1.
Game 2- Louisville pitching gets the job done again against the Tropics allowing just a run on three hits as they assure themselves of a series win. Hawaii’s Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani [itched six innings allowing two runs on four hits and a walk. He struck out five but took the loss to fall to 8-7 with a 4.51 ERA.
Pierangelo Ferri was 1 for 2 with a walk and an RBI. Jorge Salas was 1 for 4 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored.
Louisville wins 3-1.
Game 3- The Sluggers complete the sweep of the Tropics with two late runs and more good pitching. Hawaii SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson pitched five innings surrendering just a run on four hits while walking three and fanning five batters.
Adhyapayana Mehta has had a good rookie season for Hawaii, He had a 2 for 4 day against he Sluggers with a run scored and an RBI. Lorenzo Gonzales was 2 for 3 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI.
Louisville wins 3-2 and sweeps the series.
