The Hawaii Tropics continue their home stand with a four game series against the Portland Lumberjacks.



Game 1- The Lumberjacks halt the Tropics three game win streak with a three run ninth inning. The game winning hit was a solo homer off the bat of Lewis Cairns.

SP Atmo ‘Mole’ Ananas had a no decision after going 6 2/3 innings. He allowed three runs on ten hits and two walks. He struck out six batters for the game.

Omar Altaner was 3 for 4 on the day for the Trops. Jorge Salas was 2 for 3 with a run scored and a stolen base and he was also caught stealing. Katsumi Matsumoto was 1 for 3 with a two run homer.



Portland wins 6-3.



Game 2- The Hawaii Tropics had a great pitching performance from an unlikely source as the Trops even the series 1-1. SP Bob McConnell pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up just four hits and walking one batter. He fanned four and improved to 6-10 with a 6.61 ERA. Denny Hamilton pitched two innings for Hawaii in relief allowing a hit and striking out two batters earning his 11th hold. Alberto Castaneda finished the game off by striking out the final two batters.

Adhyapayana Mehta was 2 for 4 with a solo homer, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Mike Campbell was 2 for 3 with a solo homer, a run scored and two RBI.

Hawaii wins 3-0.



Game 3- The Lumberjacks eke out a one run victory over the Hawaii Tropics to edge ahead of the Trops 2-1 in the series. SP Maup Manshert took the mound for Hawaii and pitched six innings allowing two runs on five hits. He walked one and fanned six but falls to 5-11 with a 4.34 ERA.

Mike Campbell was 1 for 3 with two RBI. Logan ‘LJ’ Niles was 2 for 3 with a solo homer.



Portland wins 4-3.



Game 4- The Hawaii Tropics earn a series split scoring 8 runs on just 5 hits as the Lumberjacks kick the ball around for 4 errors. Mike Campbell was 2 for 3 with a double and a Grand Slam. He scored a run and drove in six runs on the day.

SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani benefitted from the errors and run support to get his 8th win of the season. He pitched six innings allowing two runs on seven hits and walked three batters. He also fanned four.

Hawaii wins 8-3 and split the series 2-2.



Hawaii Manager Ernesto Garcia said, “We are playing better lately. We’ve been getting some big hits and some good pitching from our staff. Hopefully we can finish the season strong and build toward next season.”
