The Hawaii Tropics embark on a short four game road trip against the San Fernando Bears. Hawaii has had some success against the Bears with an 8-2 record so far this season.

Game 1- The Tropics and Bears play a fourteen inning classic in the opener with Hawaii taking the series opener. It looked like a win for the Bears going into the top of the ninth when the Trops rallied for three runs on a bases clearing double from Adhyapayana Mehta. Then, in the top of the fourteenth, Manny Garcia hit a two out double to keep the inning alive. Bears Manager Brett Hubbard put up four fingers to walk Hawaii's Bronx ‘Little Bron’ Cortez. That brought Ron Shiplack to the plate. Shiplack fouled off the first pitch then laced the next pitch through the 5.5 hole to score Garcia from second with the go ahead run.

Jon Whaley came back out for his second inning of work and pitched another clean inning for the win. He finished the day with two innings pitched and three Ks.

Shiplack finished the day 3 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI. Omar Altaner was 4 for 7 with two runs scored. Altaner is hitting .295 with 8 bombs and 30 RBI in a platoon. SS Logan ‘LJ’ Niles has played well after a stint in AAA going 3 for 6 with a two runs homer and two runs scored. Mehta came on as a defensive replacement and was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBI.
