The Hawaii Tropics finish their home stand with a three game series with the Seattle Storm. The Tropics are 8-2 versus the Storm so far this season.
Game 1- The Seattle Storm show patience against Tropics pitching to win the series opener. Hawaii SP Atmo ‘Mole’ Ananas pitched just 4 1/3 innings and threw 90 pitches against Seattle. Ananas gave up three runs on four hits and issued four walks. He fanned seven batters and falls to 1-1 with Hawaii with a 2.79 ERA.
Carl Thibodeaux was 1 for 4 with a double and two RBI.
Seattle wins 5-2.
Game 2- The Hawaii offense breaks out against Seattle and SP Bob McConnell was somewhat effective to give the Tropics a win to even the series 1-1. McConnell pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing three runs on six hits. He walked two and fanned two to earn the win. He is 5-9 on the season. RP Tye Whitford gave Hawaii 2 1/3 innings of one hit ball for his 8th hold of the season. He fanned one and lowered his ERA to 4.04.
LF Bronx ‘Little Bron’ Cortez was 2 for 4 with a double and a three run homer. He scored two and drove in three. RF Mike Campbell battered Storm pitching with a 3 for 5 day. He doubled and homered scoring two runs and driving in two.
Hawaii wins 7-3.
Game 3- The Seattle Storm score three runs in the eighth inning off of usually reliable RP Ronnie Sprinkles. The Trops responded with a run scoring single off the bat of Logan ‘LJ’ Niles to put them on top for good. Rich Martinez finished the game off to get the win and a blown save after allowing the game tying run by walking the batter. He finished with the walk and two Ks.
SP Maup Manshert git the start and pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up just four hits, a walk and fanned seven batters in a no decision.
Bronx Cortez was 1 for 2 with a walk and an RBI. Niles was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Lorenzo Gonzales was 2 for 4 with a solo homer.
Hawaii wins 4-3 and wins the series 2-1.
