The Hawaii Tropics finish their road trip with a three game series against the Vancouver Mounties.



Game 1- The Vancouver Mounties use three pitchers to shut out the Hawaii Tropics to jump out to a 1-0 series lead. Hawaii SP Maup Manshert was roughed up for six runs on eight hits in four innings of work. He walked two and fanned three but falls to 1-5 with a 6.35 ERA. Alberto Castaneda and Jon Whaley both pitch two clean innings. Castaneda struck out two while Whaley fanned one.

Pierangelo Ferri was the leading hitter for the Tropics going 2 for 4.



Vancouver wins 6-0.



Game 2- The Mounties get a walk off double to edge out the Tropics to take a 2-0 series lead. SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson got the start for the Tropics going 4 1/3 innings allowing three runs on eight hits. He walked two and struck out four batters. The bullpen kept the game in control until Scott Lucas gave up two hits including the game winner allowing a run.

Ferri was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI while Ron Shiplack was 1 for 4 with two RBI.

Vancouver wins 4-3.



Game 3- The Mounties complete the series sweep with another good pitching performance. SP Bob McConnell had another good effort but the bullpen and the offense could do nothing to change the outcome of this one. McConnell pitched five innings surrendering two runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out seven batters. He falls to 2-2 with a 3.72 ERA.

Ferri was 0 for 2 with two walks and an RBI.



Vancouver wins 5-1.



The Tropics return home for a three game series against the Long Beach Surfers.



Game 1- Hawaii Ace Alaric Wullenweber pitched a shut out one the Surfers to end the Tropics losing streak. He gave up just four hits and issued one walk while striking out eight batters. He improved to 6-4 with a 2.32 ERA.

Ferri is on a productive streak going 2 for 3 with two doubles, a stolen base and an RBI.



Hawaii wins 2-0.



Game 2- Hawaii Star RF Mike Campbell hits for the cycle for the second time in his career to lead the Tropics to a win. Campbell was 4 for 4 with three runs scored and three RBI.

Hawaii SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani made Campbell’s big day stand up. He pitched seven strong innings allowing three runs on eight hits while walking two batters. He fanned seven and improved to 2-2 with a 5.34 ERA. Alberto Castaneda pitched the final two innings giving up just one hit and striking out one.

Rookie C Katsumi Matsumoto was 2 for 5 with his first career homer, a Grand Slam, in the eighth inning. He scored two runs and drove in four. Ron Shiplack was 2 for 4 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and three RBI.



Hawaii wins 14-3.



Game 3- The Long Beach Surfers avoid a sweep with an extra inning win over the Hawaii Tropics. The Surfers scored two runs in the twelfth inning on a hit off of Ernie Poole.

Maup Manshert was a bit better in this start going 5 2/3 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and three walks. He struck out five in the no decision.


Stephen Cox was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI.



Long Beach wins 4-2.
