The Hawaii Tropics continue their home stand with a three game series against the Valencia Stars.



Game 1- The Tropics pitching staff bears down and stops the bleeding with a combined five hit shutout of the Stars. SP Bob McConnell git the party started with six excellent innings of work. He gave up just five hits, walked one and fanned three batters. He improves to 2-0 with a 1.10 ERA.

Denny Hamilton took the ball from McConnell and pitched a clean inning with two strike outs for his first hold of the season. Ronnie Sprinkles finished the game with two clean innings striking out three to earn his third save of the season.

Stephen Cox was 1 for 1 with two walks and a solo homer. Mike Campbell was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI.



Hawaii wins 2-0.



Game 2- Hawaii Ace Alaric Wullenweber dominated the Valencia Stars lineup with his fastball and slider. He pitched eight innings giving up just a hit, walked three and fanned nine. He improves to 4-3 with a 2.96 ERA. Tye Whitford came on to pitch a clean inning for his first career save.

Bronx ‘Little Bron’ Cortez was 0 for 2 but drove in the only run the Tropics would need with a sac fly in the bottom of the eighth.

Ira Sanchez had doubled to lead off the inning then stole third with one out to set up the game winner by Cortez.



Hawaii wins 1-0.



Game 3- The Valencia Stars avoids the sweep with a late inning come back win over the Tropics. After Hawaii tied the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth, Valencia scored two runs to take the lead for good.

Hawaii SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani took the mound for the Tropics and pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing four runs on eight hits and walk three. He struck out three in a no decision.

Mike Campbell was 4 for 5 with a double and a three run homer. Carl Thobodeaux was 1 for 1 with a run scored, an RBI and three walks.



Valencia wins 6-4.



The Tropics end their home stand with a three game series against the Omaha Cyclones.



Game 1- 'Mr. Tropic' Mike Campbell led the Tropics to a series opening win over the Omaha Cyclones. Campbell was 3 for 4 with a double, a two run homer, scored a run, drove in four and stole a base. SP Maup Manshert did just enough to keep the Cyclones in check. He pitched six innings giving up four runs on six hits, walked three and fanned two. He gets the win to improve to 1-3 but still sports a gaudy 5.85 ERA.

Ron Shiplack was 4 for 5 with a double, two run scored and two RBI. Ira Sanchez was 2 for 5 with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base. Manny Garcia was 3 for 4 with a run scored, an RBI and two stolen bases.

Scott Lucas pitched 1 1/3 innings of relief giving up a hit, issued a walk and fanned one for his second hold of the season. Ernie Poole pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits.



Hawaii wins 10-4.



Game 2- The Omaha Cyclones score early then hold on for the win to even the series at 1-1. Hawaii SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson continues to struggle going five innings and surrendering five runs on seven hits. He walked one and struck out two in the loss. He falls to 2-4 with a 6.38 ERA.

Manny Garcia was 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI.


Omaha wins 5-2.



Game 3- The Cyclones blow open a 2-2 tie with six runs in the ninth to take the series. Ernie Poole came on with two outs in the top of the ninth and poured gasoline and lit it all with a match to ignite the Omaha comeback win.

Bob McConnell was decent again going five innings and allowing two runs on four hits. He walked three and fanned five.

Stephen Cox was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI.



Omaha wins 8-2.
