The Hawaii Tropics finish their home stand with a three game series against the Des Moines Kernels.



Game 1- The Tropics lose their fourth straight game falling to the Kernels in extras. Hawaii led by a run going into the ninth but saw the Kernels tie it up at 4-4. SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani took the mound for Hawaii to start the game. He pitched five innings giving up three runs on five hits, walked two and fanned seven.

On offense, Ron Shiplack was 2 for 6 with a double and a two run homer. He scored a run and drove in two. Lorenzo Gonzales was 2 for 5 with a double and a solo homer. He scored a run and also drove in two runs. Manny Garcia was 3 for 6 with a solo homer, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.



Des Moines wins 7-5.



Game 2- Hawaii SP Maup Manshert and the bullpen stop the losing skid. Manshert pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing just a run on three hits, two walks and struck out eight. Alberto Castaneda pitched an inning giving up just a hit and a walk while striking out two batters to get the win.Bob McConnell finished the game with 1 1/3 innings of work giving up a hit and fanning two for his first save of the season.

Ron Shiplack stays hot with a 4 for 4 day. He drove in two runs. Logan ‘LJ’ Niles was 2 for 4 with a triple, a stolen base and two runs scored.



Hawaii wins 3-1.



Game 3- The Tropics pounce on the Kernels early with six runs in the first inning then two in the second to cruise to a series win. Ira Sanchez was 1 for 4 with a bases loaded double in the first inning that plated three runs. Carl Thobodeaux was 2 for 3 with a walk, two runs scored and an RBI.
Adhyapayana Mehta was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. Lorenzo Gonzales was 2 for 4 with a run, an RBI and a stolen base.

On the mound, Hawaii had a good start from SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson. Johnson pitched seven innings giving up two runs on three hits, walking three and fanning seven batters. Jon Whaley finished off the final two innings allowing just a hit and striking out three batters.

Hawaii wins 8-2.



The Trops have a short, three game road trip against the Portland Lumberjacks.



Game 1- The Lumberjacks boat race the Tropics in the series opener scoring 19 runs on 21 hits. Hawaii SP Ernie Poole took a lot of abuse from Portland hitters giving up six runs on eight hits over three innings. He walked three and struck out four in absorbing his third loss of the season.

RF Mike Campbell was 3 for 3 with a triple and a RBI.



Portland wins 19-2.



Game 2- The Tropics turn the tables on the Lumberjacks with two five run innings to sprint to victory and tie the series 1-1. SP Alaric Wullenweber stymied the Lumberjacks in eight innings allowing three runs on five hits, walked one and fanning eleven. He did give up three solo homers. Whaley pitched a clean ninth.

Pierangelo Ferri was 2 for 5 with a run scored and two RBI. Stephen Cox was 2 for 5 with a double and a homer. He scored a run and drove in three. Logan Niles was 1 for 5 with a solo homer. Ira Sanchez was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Lorenzo Gonzales was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Jorge Salas was 1 for 3 with a run scored and two RBI.

Hawaii wins 11-3.



Game 3- Tropics take the rubber match from the Lumberjacks for a series win. Nick Destefani wins his first game of the season after seven strong innings. He allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks. He fanned seven batters and lowers his ERA to 2.59. Jon Whaley pitched two more solid innings giving up just a hit and striking out two batters,

Stephen Cox was 3 for 6 with a run scored and an RBI. Mike Campbell was 2 for 3 with a double, a stolen base and a run scored. Carl Thibodeaux was 2 for 4 with a double, a homer, a walk, two runs scored and an RBI. Lorenzo Gonzales was 4 for 5 with a run scored and a stolen base. Jorge Salas was 2 for 4 with a two run homer, a walk, two runs scored and four RBI.



Hawaii wins 8-2.
