The Hawaii Tropics host the San Fernando Bears in a three game series. It is the Trops 2048 BBA Season home opener.



Game 1- Hawaii SP Alaric Wullenweber goes six innings allowing three runs then the bullpen no hits the Bears the rest of the way for a series opening win. Wullenweber gave up four hits, walked two and fanned eight. He improves to 2-1 with a 2.79 ERA. Luis Santiago took the mound in relief of Wullenweber and struck out out five batters in two innings of work. Bob McConnell finished up the game with a clean ninth with a strike out.

The offense was led by Manny Garcia. Garcia was 2 for 4 on the day with two homers, two runs scored and five RBI. Lorenzo Gonzales was 3 for 4 with a run scored an RBI and a stolen base. Ira Sanchez was 3 for 4 with a double, two runs scored, an RBI and two stolen bases.



Hawaii wins 9-3.



Game 2- The San Fernando Bears score three runs in the top of the ninth against Hawaii relievers then hold off a Tropics rally to even the series 1-1. SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani had a good start for the Tropics going seven innings allowing two runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out six.

Rookie 2B Adhyapayana Mehta was 3 for 5 with his first career home run. He also doubled, scored a run and drove in two runs.



San Fernando wins 5-3.



Game 3- The Tropics score four runs In the bottom of the eighth then hold off the Bears to take the series 2 games to 1. SP Maup Manshert showed some good form going seven innings. He gave up an unearned run on two hits, walked none and fanned thirteen batters in a no decision. Tye Whitford pitched 1 1/3 innings allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk. He struck out one and earned the win to improve to 1-1 on the season.

Ron Shiplack was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Mike Campbell was 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base. Lorenzo Gonzales was 2 for 3 with a double, a run scored and a stolen base.



Hawaii wins 5-3.



The Chicago Black Sox are the next visitor to Diamond Head to face the Tropics in a three game series.



Game 1- The Black Sox score seven runs in the sixth inning on their way to a series opening win. SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson was hammered for seven runs on ten hits and three walks over five innings, He struck out just one batter and falls to 1-1 with a 4.08 ERA.

Logan ‘LJ’ Niles was 1 for 2 with a two run homer in the sixth inning. Manny Garcia was 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.



Chicago wins 11-6.



Game 2- The sixth inning is becoming a nightmare for the Tropics as the Black Sox unleash six runs and put up another 11 run game. SP Ernie Poole struggled through five innings allowing four runs (three earned) on eight hits and three walks. He struck out four but falls to 0-2 on the season.

Mike Campbell was 2 for 4 with a homer, two runs scored and three RBI. Jorge Salas was 2 for 4 with a run scored, two RB and two stolen bases.



Chicago wins 11-7.



Game 3- The Chicago Black Sox ambush Hawaii Ace Alaric Wullenweber for three runs in the first and a run in the second inning. They relied on their pitching to keep the Tropics offense at bay to sweep the series.

Wullenweber went just five innings allowing four runs on eight hits, walked four and struck out six. He falls to 2-2 with a 3.70 ERA.

The offense could only muster six hits and draw just three walks. Jorge Salas was 1 for 3 driving in Logan Niles with the only Hawaii run.



Chicago wins 4-1.



Hawaii Manager Ernesto Garcia said, “We couldn’t stop their offense and our offense sputtered. We do have our running game cranked up.”
