GM Jim Walker said, “Whitford can give us some innings out of the bullpen that we need with the losses of guys like Felipe Lopez.

In the second round, the Tropics selected Scott Lucas from Sacramento. Lucas pitched the last three seasons in AAA Black Hills making 110 appearances. He was 17-8 with 11 saves over 184 IP. He had a 3.13 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP with a 2.78 FIP.

Walker said of Lucas, “He is another one of those guys that will eat some innings for us at the back end of the game.”

With the third pick, the Tropics took Louisville Slugger minor leaguer Jon Whaley. Whaley pitched the 2045 and 2047 seasons in Missouri making 88 appearances going 4-3 with 16 saves with a 3.88 ERA. He had 139 innings of work posting a 1.33 WHIP and a 3.40 FIP.

Walker said, “Whaley is a long shot but he does throw 100 mph so what do we have to lose?”

Whitford was great in AAA. Hope he does well for you except when you face Nashville, of course.
