The Hawaii Tropics end the regular season in Seattle with a three game series against the Storm at the King County Complex.



Game 1- Hawaii scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to stun weather the Storm and take the series opener. Maup Manshert took the mound for the Tropics to start the game and was excellent over 7 1/3 innings. Manshert gave up just two runs on seven hits. He walked none and fanned eight batters. He gave the ball to Felipe Lopez to finish this game off. Lopez pitched the final 1 2/3 allowing just a hit, walked one and struck out one. Lopez earned the win to go to 7-8 with a 3.72 ERA. Lopez has matured before our eyes the past two season and has been an important pitcher in the late innings for Hawaii.

Back up C Norberto Salinas was 1 for 3 with a solo homer, a walk, a run scored and two RBI. Tony Hernandez was 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI. Ernest McBride was 1 for 4 with a run and an RBI.



Hawaii wins 6-2.



Game 2- The Hawaii Tropics pound out 15 hits and score 10 runs to calm the Storm. The Tropics place themselves a win away from making the playoffs as a wildcard. Tropics SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson has had an up and down season but Johnson got the job done when it counted. Johnson pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing two runs on ten hits, walked no one and struck out seven. He earned his 10th win of the season.

Ernest McBride was 2 for 4 with a three run homer. He scored two runs and drove in four. Tony Hernandez was 2 for 5 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI. C Ron Shiplack was 3 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBI.



Hawaii wins 10-3.



Game 3- The Hawaii Tropics win the final game of their regular season and take the final wildcard spot in the Frick League. SP Alaric Wullenweber did his job going 6 1/3 innings allowing just a run on six hits, He walked three and fanned six to improve to 16-7 with a 2.92 ERA. Denny Hamilton followed Wullenweber and gave up just a hit over 1 2/3 inning of work. He struck out three for his 8th hold of the season. Ronnie Sprinkles finished the game off with an inning of work and giving up just a walk.

Tony Hernandez was 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI. Manny Garcia was 2 for 3 with a solo bomb in the ninth. He scored a run and drove in two.

Wullenweber stated after the game, “This was a close call but we came back from a hole we dug and made it in the second season. This one is sweet.”

Hawaii wins 5-1 and sweep the series.



The Tropics will face the Louisville Sluggers in the Geoghegan Round.
