The Hawaii Tropics host the Pacific Division leader Sacramento Mad Popes in a crucial three game series at Diamond Head.



Game 1- The Mad Popes strike late to take the series opener and set the tone of this match up. Hawaii SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani got the nod for this game and left after the sixth with a lead. He pitched six innings allowing four runs in six hits, walked three and struck out five. The bullpen coughed up the lead in the top of the ninth with Alberto Castaneda giving up three runs in an inning of work and Bob McConnell surrendering one one in 1/3 of an inning.

Mike Campbell was 2 for 4 with a three run homer. Lorenzo Gonzales was 1 for 5 with a solo shot and Bronx ‘Little Bron’ Cortez was 1 for 1 with a homer in the ninth.



Sacramento wins 8-6.



Game 2- The Tropics give up four runs late again but they survived the Mad Popes rally. SP Jesus Gonzalez pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing two runs on four hits, walked three and fanned nine. He earns his 13th win of the season and sports a 3.88 ERA.

Mike Campbell was 1 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI. Ernest McBride was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI. David Guerra was 2 for 4 with a triple, a run scored and three RBI.



Hawaii wins 8-4.



Game 3- The Tropics tie the game late but the Mad Popes win the rubber match with two runs in the twelfth inning to win the series. SP Maup Manshert went five innings for the Trops allowing four runs on six hits, walked one and struck out four. Ernie Poole allowed two unearned runs in two innings of work to take the loss and falls to 3-1 on the season.

Jose Camacho was 2 for 5 with a double, a homer, two runs scored and two RBI.



Sacramento wins 6-4.



The Tropics play their final home game of the season with a two game series with the Valencia Stars.



Game 1- The Tropics jump on the Stars early for four runs in the first and three in the third then hold on for the win. SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson gets the win for Hawaii with six innings of work, five runs allowed on five hits and five walks. He fanned five and improves to 9-16 with a 4.68 ERA.

C Ron Shiplack was 4 for 4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI. Lorenzo Gonzales was 2 for 4 with a three run homer in the first inning.



Hawaii wins 7-6.



Game 2- The Tropics take their season finale at home and sweep the two game series. Ernest McBride was 2 for 3 with a double and two run homer with Tony Hernandez going 3 for 3 with a two run homer. McBride and Hernandez both scored twice and drove in two runs.

Hawaii Ace Alaric Wullenweber pitched eight strong innings allowing two runs on four hits and a walk. He struck out nine and improved to 14-7 with a 2.98 ERA. Ernie Poole got the save with an inning of work allowing two hits and striking out two batters.



Hawaii wins 6-4.
