The Hawaii Tropics host the Yellow Springs Nine in a three game series at Diamond Head.



Game 1- The Tropics get a walkoff win in the series opener over the Yellow Springs Nine.With tow outs in the ninth and the bases jacked, Hawaii Rookie SS Logan ‘LJ’ Niles lined a single into right center to plate two runs to give the Tropics the win. Niles finished the day 2 for 4 and continues to steadily raise his average.

3B Hector Ojeda was 1 for 3 with a two run homer.

CF Manny Garcia was 1 for 3 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and two RBI.

In the mound, SP Jesus Gonzalez was pedestrian. He gave up five runs (four earned ) on six hits and a walk. He struck out five batters in five innings of work.

The Hawaii bullpen kept the Nine in check the rest of the way with four shutout innings to allow the late inning heroics.



Hawaii wins 6-5.



Game 2- Hawaii SP Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson surprises everyone with a better start going 6 1/3 innings giving up three runs on five hits. He did issue five walks and struck out one but the damage was limited. He improves to 7-6 with a 6.26 ERA.

Logan Niles is on a tear going 2 for 3 with a two runs homer while Hector Ojeda was also 2 for 3 with a walk and an RBI.



Hawaii wins 5-3.



Game 3- The Tropics and Nine battle to a tie through nine innings but Yellow Springs avoids being swept as they take the finale in ten.

SP Bob McConnell gave the Tropics a chance pitching 6 1/3 tough innings allowing just a hit and issuing a walk. He struck out three but get a no decision.

1B Gary Allen led the Tropics going 2 for 4 with a solo homer while RF Mike Campbell was 1 for 4 also with a solo shot.



Yellow Springs wins 3-2 but Hawaii take the series 2-1.



The Hawaii Tropics host a pivotal three game series against the Seattle Storm at Diamond Head.



Game 1- The Seattle Storm get off to a big start as they crush the Tropics in the series opener. Hawaii SP Alaric Wullenweber was battered early going just four innings and giving up six runs (four earned ) on ten hits. He walked none and struck out five batters but falls t0 15-5 with a 3.05 ERA.

The Tropics mustered two solo homers, one off the bat of DH Ernest McBride (1 for 3) and the other by 2B Carlos Martinez (2 for 3).



Seattle wins 14-3.



Game 2- The Tropics weathered the Storm and evened the series with an extra inning win. With two outs in the bottom of the tenth, Manny Rodriguez smacked a double to right center. The next hitter, Gary Allen, wasted no time slapping the first pitch he saw between first and second. Garcia scored easily from second to give the Tropics the walk off win.

SP Niccolo “Notorious” Destefani put the Tropics in an early hole giving up six runs on eight hits while he walked nine and struck out three batters.

RP Denny Hamilton pitched 1 1/3 innings for Hawaii striking out one to get the win as he improves to 5-1.

Gary Allen was a pain for the Storm as the was 4 for 6 with a double, a run scored and two RBI.

C Ron Shiplack was 3 for 4 with two runs scored and two RBI.

LF Bronx ‘Little Bron’ Cortez was 2 for 4 with a homer, a walk, two runs and two RBI.

Logan Niles was 2 for 5 with a double, a run and two RBI.



Hawaii wins 9-8.



Game 3- The Tropics could not sustain a rally and the Seattle Storm wins the series from the Tropics 2 games to 1.

Gary Allen was 1 for 3 with a solo homer and Ernest McBride was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

Jesus Gonzalez was ineffective going 6 1/3 innings giving up five runs on eight hits and a walk. He struck out six but falls to 5-8 on the season with a bloated 5.29 ERA.



Seattle wins 5-2.
