The Hawaii Tropics play a critical three game series against the San Fernando Bears in the last home series leading into the All Star break.
Game 1- The Tropics get a surprise good start out of Zak ‘Hitman’ Johnson and RF Mike Campbell goes 4 for 5 to lead Hawaii to victory in the series opener.
Johnson pitched 5 1/3 innings and allowed just four hits, walked one and struck out three to even his record at 5-5.
Campbell doubled three times, scored three runs and drove in a run.
CF Michel Noel was 2 for 5 with his first homer of the season, He scored a run and drove in three runs on the day.
Hawaii wins 9-2.
Game 2- The Tropics again use a bullpen day to fill in the fifth starter spot and again get a good showing. Hawaii used ten pitchers that gave up just three runs on eight hits, walked five and struck out six. On offense, the Tropics get homers from 1B Gary Allen and DH Ernest McBride.
Allen was 1 for 4 with a two run homer.
McBride was 2 for 3 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs scored.
Hawaii wins 5-3.
Game 3- Hawaii Ace Alaric Wullenweber strikes out 13 Bears over 7 1/3 innings and Mike Campbell goes 3 for 4 with a Grand Slam to lead the Tropics to a series sweep over the San Fernando Bears.
Wullenweber gave up three runs on five hits and walked none. He improved to 13-3 with a 3.20 ERA on the season.
Campbell scored three times and drove in five runs.
LF Bastiao Fardos was 2 for 3 with a double, a homer, three runs scored and two RBI.
Hawaii wins 9-6.
The Hawaii Tropics had five players chosen to play in the 2046 BBA All Star Game.
Alaric Wullenweber was selected to his fifth All Star game. He is 13-3 with a 3.20 ERA this season and has racked up 123 strikeouts while walking just 10. He has posted a 4.4 WAR to this point in the season.
C Ron Shiplack was selected for his second career All Star game. Shiplack is slashing .326/.367/.529 with 9 homers and 40 RBI this season. He has posted a 2.5 WAR.
Gary Allen was selected to his third consecutive BBA All Star game. Allen has upped his game since making the move from third to first base. This season he has slashed .310/.377/.559 with 18 homers and 52 RBI. He has posted 3 WAR.
Ernest McBride was selected to his second All Star game. McBride has had a resurgence this season after an off year in 2045. He is slashing .325/.395/.694 with 26 homers and 68 RBI. He has also posted 3 WAR.
Mike Campbell was selected to his second All Star game. He last made an All Star game appearance in the 2040 game. Campbell is crushing the ball this season slashing .352/.385/.642 with 24 homers and 69 RBI. He has posted 3.7 WAR.
